Japanese electronics company Maxell has joined the growing pools of sponsors in the S-league & the team they have chosen to be the main sponsor is the Young Lions.

In a ceremony held within the compound of Jalan Besar yesterday, Maxell became the 1st main sponsor of the club since its inception last year. The 2-year deal, which end in 2005 to be worth S$600,000.

Maxell was linked to now-defunct Jurong FC last season, & after hearing the business proposal put up by the S-League, they felt that it was simply too good an opportunity to pass.

Mr S Mohan, Sales Manager, Maxell Asia (Singapore) Private Limited stated the company sponsor the Young Lions for several reasons such as the team representing the future of the country & they strongly feel that Maxell could provide them with the support to do well and bring glory to the country. Furthermore, football is a medium to reach out to the people.

The Young Lions, having finished at bottom of the table last season, would see Maxell’s generosity as a boast to fare better this time round.

Newly appointed coach Radojko Avramovic, who also takes charge of the senior side stated the sponsorship is definitely a good sign & that there are people who believe in the team that Singapore are trying to form.
