Jaguars Chairman Matthew Kang has issued a near to impossible statement in the eye of many when he promised that the Jaguars were confident of finishing among the top 5 for the coming 2004 season.
The Jaguars had a horrible 2003 season, which they finished, in 10th position of 12 teams & they were nearly pulled out of the 2004 season before they managed to secure sponsors to safeguard their position in the league.
Also in the pre-season they had a hard time attracting players to join their club & worse was the loss of players season to other could form the core of the club for the 2004 season.
Still Jaguars Chairman Matthew Kang had brave words to say to his sponsors at Tanjong Pagar United's Fund Raising Dinner 2004. He claimed the club had taken the 1st step to rebuilding its former glory by assembling a decent team & fans can be assured the club would not go down without a fight.
He also took the chance to thank Jaguars long-serving sponsors like JVC & equipmet sponsor, Lotto.
He is also glad to know that more companies have come forwards to join the S-league in making it a national project like SingaporePools, NTUC Income, SIA, SembCorp, Coca-Cola, Emirates & Hyundai.
