Home United coach Steve Darby watched in delight as his team delivered a stunning performance to destroy Hong Kong Champon Happy Valley 5-1 and set the 2003 S-league champion AFC Cup campaign off to an absolute flyer.

Before the match, the Home United coach was already in a confident mood as he commented on how different his current team was to the 2002 team which had fell to then Hong Kong Champion South China 2-1 in the Asia Champion League.

The Protectors had grown in belief since he took over the team in 2002

Still Steve Darby believed it was 1 of the best performance since he took over the team back in 2002. He felt his team performance in the match was unbelievable & that nothing went wrong for the Protectors throughout the whole match

He pointed out the performance of Thai midfielder Surachai Jaturapattarapong who protect the team defence so brilliantly that it allow the rest of the team to do what they does best which was to attack without any worries.

Still it was believable his team would score that many goals against the Hong Kong Champion & he was most certainly delighted with the result
