Several S-league clubs are unhappy
with the lacked of transparent of Paya Lebar Punggol as the Hougang based club is not revealing details on 2 of their
donors who contributed close to $100000 to the S-league newcomer.
One chairman was reported as saying
the S-league had always been careful about who give money to the clubs because of
the existing betting element & clubs have a responsibility to declare who
give them money, especially if the donors are individuals & the amount
considerable.
But Paya Lebar Punggol vice-chairman Steve
Lee rebut that as their donors are people from the grassroots & they want to
remain anonymous for fear other clubs
might bother them for donations a well.
S-league though is backing Paya Lebar Punggol
as the S-league deputy chief executive officer How Seen Tong said at this point
there is no reason to believe anything is amiss & they trust Paya Lebar Punngol
have taken extra precautions to find out where their source of funding is
coming from.
Also he added the club
have given the S-league guarantee that the money is not from undesirable
sources
