Yet again Vietnam is turning out to be the lucky place for Singapore while it is the opposite for host Vietnam, as like back in 1998 when also in the Tiger Cup Singapore won it first ever international trophy by beating Vietnam 1-0 in the Final, Singapore is expected to profit again from the despair of the host.

Vietnam is virtually out of the Tiger Cup after the 0-3 thrashing handed to it by Indonesia with Singapore expected now to qualify at the expense of Vietnam.

While Singapore is in fourth place at the moment behind Indonesia, Vietnam & Laos with only 2 points, Singapore have now the simple task of meeting the minnows of Laos & Cambodia & based what the 2 countries have dished out thus far Singapore will be expected to collected full points & then the Republic would be ahead of host Vietnam on points as even if Vietnam won against minnows Laos they would be 1 point behind Singapore.

For the battle of the minnows, Laos came out on top with a 2-1 victory against Cambodia & it is expected to be the only points Laos would collected in the current edition of the Tiger Cup
