Paya Lebar Kovan will be undergoing a name change as the S-league newcomer seek to enlarge it fanbase in it debut season.

The club which had chosen seahorse as their mascot & the colour as their home jersey will now be known as Paya Lebar Punggol.

The official reason for this name change is that the clubs officials felt that as the area of Kovan is small compare to the area of Punggol it would be best for the club to tap the fan base there as no stadium or club is based there at the moment.

Also they felt it is best to make the changes now rather than later as once the club debut with the name Paya Lebar Kovan most fans would associate it with that name
