The 2005 AFC Cup draw was drawn & Singapore representatives Tampines Rovers & Home United were drawn into Group D & Group E respectively.

Tampines Rovers have Malaysia FA Cup Champion Perak, Maldives FA Cup Champion Club Valencia & Hong Kong League Champion Sun Hei in their group while Home United have Malaysia Super League Champion Pahang, Maldives League champion New Radiant & Hong Kong FA Cup Champion Happy Valley in their group

The next edition would have 9 nations – West (Jordan, Bangladesh, India, Turkmenistan & Lebanon) East (Singapore, Malaysia, Maldives & Hong Kong) - with a total of 18 teams in 5 groups competing. The format would stay the same with the 5 group winners & 3 best runners-up going through into the quarter-final.
