FC Basel U21 ended their tour of Singapore with a record of 3 straight victories as the Swiss club defeated the Young Lions 3-2 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

The Swiss club had already defeated 1 of the Big 3 of Singapore SAFFC 1-0 & followed it up in the Sembcrop Power & Gas Challenge Cup against Wooodlands Wellington with a 3-1 victory.

Young Lions coach Kim Poulsen complimented his players for a resolute performance against the Swiss team & felt it was a good learning experience for the team.

The friendly match was fiercely fought between the 2 teams as FC Basel U21 went 2-0 up by half-time with goals from Cyrill Hasler & Senaya Yoa Junier. Within 10 minutes of 2nd half, Mustaqim Manzur pulled 1 goal back for the young Lions but FC Basel U21 replied immediately with a decisive third goal from Stefan Krahenbuhl. Despite that, the Young Lions never gave up & reply with a 2nd goal from Shahril Ishak. After that, both sides had their chances but both failed to find the net again.

Singapore national coach Raddy Avramovic, who was in the stands watching the game was pleased with the display of the Young Lions team.

The Young Lions had play the friendly without 1 of the foreigner Precious Emuejeraye but 2 of the other foreigners Itimi Dickson & Kazeem Babaunde were available & played the match
