Singapore striker Indra Sahdan has decided to postpone surgery on his troublesome ankle in order to play in this year’s Tiger Cup tournament.

After a long season with S-League side Home United in the domestic league & cup competitions as well as in Asia in he AFC Cup, the 25-year-old has missed the national side’s recent warm-up matches against Malaysia Selection side in order to rest the injured ankle.

According to Home United coach Steve Darby, doctors have recommended that Indra undergo arthroscopic surgery at some point to fix the problem but his desire to play in South East Asia’s biggest football tournament has seen him put off the operation for the time being.

Darby explained the doctors have recommended that he has the arthroscopy to clean out his ankle as he has played with a lot of pain recently & has to have both ankles strapped up before matches. He’s been involved in a lot of games this season for Home United & the national team & he really needs to rest the ankle. As it was, he was not training much towards the end of the season so he could get more rest between games. However if he had the surgery now, he would miss the Tiger Cup, but as he is very keen to play in it, he will delayed the surgery.

Indra was part of Singapore’s Tiger Cup squad in 2002 but only made two substitute appearances & failed to find the net as the Lions bowed out at the group stage.
