In a bid to solve what is their most
pressing position there are rumors circuiating that the Protectors are willing
to sign on ex-Doplfin goalkeeper Amos Boon, 32, who had been out of
football for 1 year.
The keeper had
retired from football in December last year when his negotiations with rumored
clubs like Tigers & Jaguars broke down over salary dispute. It was rumored
he was asking more than any of the clubs was willing to pay him. After that he
concentrated his efforts on his family pub.
With that, it is
not difficult to ask the question if the player mental & desire is strong enough
for football or else he would never have retired in the first place due to salary
dispute but there is no doubt he had talent as he has shown in his days.
However after a year absence he would be affected as shown by the performance
of Noor Ali & Ali Imran Lomri this season after being supended for 1 year
the season before for breaking S-league codes.
However the
Protectors are without a decent keeper as they had released foreign keeper Sean
Roberts & reserve keeper Rizal Rahman. At the same time, they also failed to persuade FAS
to release Singapore International & Young Lions keeper Lionel Lewis to
them for the 2005 season despite the player signing on as a regular with rules
stating he can only played with Home United.
