Tanjong Pagar United have been told that 'time is not on their side' as they bid to secure a place in the S-League next season.

The Jaguars, whose precarious financial state saw them delay players' salaries for several months this year, must confirm their sponsors & a steady income stream for 2005 by the end of October.

The S-League is waiting for confirmation from Jaguars about their budgeted income for next season in the form of commitment from sponsors & they want to know from where the funding is going to come & how much it will be.

It is an uphill battle to come out with that money as confirmed by Jaguars chairman Matthew Kang

Jaguars chairman Matthew Kang said they were fire-fighting for the large part of the past few months & that distracted them from fundraising but now have appointed Advantage MCS & they are currently talking to a few sponsors. Also they have completed the fundraising golf tournament & are looking at a few more fundraising events. He is confident that they can get commitment from sponsors for next season but is aware that time is tight for entry into the S-League

Not helping is also the fact S-League CEO Chan King Fook has told Kang that time is not on their side for the application.

After the glory days when Tanjong Pagar United won the Singapore Cup and FA Cup double in 1998, the club slipped into financial dire straits, with crippling debts accumulating over recent years. The Jaguars' current debt is estimated to be around $600,000.
