The Jaguars received the unwanted ‘Wooden
Spoon’ Award after they lost 0-4 to the Eagles at Queenstown stadium
It was match the Jaguars could not lose as anything from a draw to a victory would ensure it was Sinchi which got the ‘Wooden Spoon’ Award.
The home side never quite got into the
game in front of a sparse Queenstown crowd, & they soon fell behind. Keeper
Ridzuan Fatah, normally so
reliable, will have been disappointed at his punch-out from a corner landing at
the feet of Geylang midfielder Wayne O'Sullivan just
outside the box. As punishment, the Englishman sent his shot high into the net
for 1-0. O'Sullivan scored his second in identical fashion, connecting with a
muffed clearance from the Jaguars defence to slot home
through a crowded box. Just before the break the tie was over as Aleksander Duric directed an
uncontested header past Ridzuan. The big Australian
striker was their tormentor again after the break, as he squared the ball
across goal for 18-year-old strike partner Fazrul Nawaz to slide home.
