August 22, 2004.

Needing 2 more goals to complete his set of 200 for Home United, Egmar Goncalves duly obliged with a clinical double in the first half of the Protectors' Singapore Cup semi-final against Sinchi Golden Throat.

Also as if to make an extra point that there is still life in him in the S-league at 34 & past the 200 target, the ex-Singapore international forward struck his 201st goal as well as a trick for the game with a perfectly poached gem 7 minutes from the end.

Sinchi keeper Lin Jun could only shake his head at the finish, while Egmar wheeled away in the celebration that has become so familiar.

Never mind that specially designed t-shirts to commemorate his 200th goal were unable to be unveiled during the match, for fear of violating new FIFA rules prohibiting players yanking off their jerseys, this was Egmar's night.

The man himself was keen to share the spotlight though.

He said it was not only about his goals, but about the team winning first. Also he credits his team-mates as well for making the types of chances that enable him to score all those 201 goals.

At the same time he felt his striker partner Indra will hit it sooner or later & even surpass himself as at his age it is impossible to get 300 S-league goals.
