The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) have identified another player who could go on to play for the Lions.

In a secret meeting held at the FAS headquarters at the Jalan Besar Stadium, Tampines Rovers midfielder Mustafic Fahrudin was asked to consider making Singapore his permanent home and, possibly, represent the Lions.

It is understood that the 23-year-old has agreed & will apply to become a permanent resident by the end of this year, with the view of becoming a Singapore citizen.

When contacted, national team administrator Eugene Loo confirmed the meeting took place & that the FAS have identified the Serbian as a potential Lion.

Eugene Loo said it was part of FAS efforts to strengthen the national team for immediate and long-term goals.

He added Fahrudin was identified by the national coach as 1 of the players who could be drafted into the Foreign Talent Scheme but it does not mean that he is guaranteed a place in the national team as he would be monitored like all the other foreign players who are currently under the scheme.

When contacted yesterday, Fahrudin said it is a great honour for him to be asked to play for Singapore & as he had been in Singapore for 3 years now he has no second thoughts in accepting the citizenship offer.

At the same time, sources indicate that Emuejeraye, who has been marshalling the Young Lions' defence this year, could well be on his way out.
