It was a kick out of frustration, but it saw him sent off for it. Even more serious, it cost his country dearly, as against 10 men, the Malaysians went on to win with 2 second-half goals

The Tampines Rovers midfielder was sent off against Malaysia after he seemed to kick the ball towards Thai referee Waiyabot Anucha, after the latter had awarded a free-kick against the Lions.

Tan Kim Leng admitted it was one of the stupidest things he has ever done in a match but he claimed it was unintentional as he never meant to aim the kick at the referee.

He wanted Singapore to win & the referee decisions were making it frustrated for him he wanted to revenge the 4-0 defeat during the Tiger Cup 2002

He felt bad after his action cost his country any chance to win the match.

While he has apologised to the team & is now apolgising to the nation as he has let them down in a moment of madness, he knows he will still be punished & he will bear all of it without any complaints.
