Former Australian international & ex-Eagles player Milan Blagojevic is seeking almost $100,000 from his former club.

The midfielder signed with the Eagles in January but he sustained a long-term injury during a fitness test in March so the club, invoking a clause in his contract, decided to terminate his contract in May compensating the player with 2-months compensation.

Since returning to Australia earlier this month, the 35-year-old has sought the assistance of the Australian Professional Footballers Association (PFA) to claim the remainder of his salary for his contracted term, which was due to end in December next year.

His monthly salary with the Eagles is thought to have been about $5,500.

The Eagles were informed officially of the former Socceroo claim through the PFA legal department last week.

Geylang United general manager Ong Yeok Phee believes the club have not contravened any contractual obligations & said when Milan signed with them, he was aware of the clause in the contract, which gives the club the right to terminate it due to injury or poor performance with up to 2 months compensation.

Therefore had he not agree with the clause, he could have requested for it to be removed.

Blagojevic came to Singapore with a big reputation, having represented Australia at the highest level.

He was a member of the Socceroos team, which included players like Mark Bosnich, Tony Vidmar and Paul Okon, that finished fourth at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. He has been capped 15 times for Australia.
