Tanjong Pagar United fans will have to wait to see Thai international Pitipong Kuldilog turn out in their colours.
The S-League strugglers are close to completing a move for Pitipong, but for the moment, the 24-year-old has returned to Bangkok to settle some personal matters.
Jaguars coach Karim Bencherifa said the club is looking for a target man & Pitipong is their best bet as he has the correct size & an opportunist who knows where the goal is.
Also at 24 years of age, he is still young if he does well for the club, Tanjong Pagar United can build on him in the years to come.
Pitipong turned out for Sembawang Rangers in 2002 and 2003, netting an impressive 21 goals in the S-League. The striker then moved to the Vietnam League with Eastern Asia Bank, but was released midway through his contract as he failed to find the net regularly for the struggling club.
However Bencherifa warns that any new striker would not prove an instant fix for bottom-of-the-table Tanjong Pagar.
He know a new striker will help them but they have other weaknesses as well so to only count on a new acquisition to improve the team is fruitless.
Still, the Jaguars desperately need firepower up front, having scored just six goals in 12 games.
