The Eagles struggle their way into the last 8 of the AFC Cup as they defeated Island FC of Madives 1-0.

Geylang United became the second Singapore club to qualify for the quarter-finals of the AFC Cup after a laboured win over Island FC of Maldives at Bedok Stadium that leaves them as 1 of the best 3 runner-up teams in the competition.

The Eagles needed only a draw to seal their place in the last 8 along with S-League Double champions Home United. However Rudy Khairon's strike from 30 yards after 29 minutes make it 100 percent sure. They are tied on points with Group E winners East Bengal, who also advance to the quarter-finals despite losing their final group game 2-1 to Malaysia Negri Sembilan.

The quarter-final draw will be conducted on May 28 at Beijing.
