The 2004 Tiger Cup would see a new team as Timor Leste had accepted the invitation by Asean football Federation (AFF) to join the International competition to be held in December.

At the moment, while Timor Leste is a member of the Asia Football Confederation (AFC) it is still not a member of AFF.

With Brunei not joining the Tiger Cup the International competition would stay at 10 teams divided into 2 groups of 5 teams.

This year Tiger Cup would be held in Malaysia & Vietnam from December 7 to 16 for the group stage. After that knockout stage would see the teams play a Home & Away format.

Timor Leste Football Association President Francisco Kalbuadi was delighted his nation would be playing in the upcoming Tiger Cup, as he felt it is a prestigious competition for his young nation to participate in.

He also expressed his thanks to AFF & title sponsor Tiger Beer for their support of his nation.
