one week before and right next to the best viewing sites of
Europe's last
total
eclipse of the Sun in a long time!
For several years the Working Group of Planetary Observers from Germany has
been organising very interesting meetings of European Planetary and
Cometary observers. They have brought together active observers from
a dozen countries for fruitful discussions. The splendid Bruder-Klaus-Heim
in the Bavarian village of Violau hosted the first three meetings.
Now we are happy to invite you for the fourth MEPCO - to
Varna, Bulgaria!
We will hold the conference in the city of Varna, in a very comfortable
hall of the municipality (in the center of the city). We will have a
schreibprojektor, aspektomat, videoprojektor and Internet.
The participants in MEPCO will stay in Hotel Bris. This a very cosy small
hotel near to the sea. In this hotel the participants will have the
possibility to stay until 12.08.1999. In the restaurant of the hotel there
will be breakfast, dinner and supper. Within the duration of
conference on 5.08,6.08, we could provide the lunch in the restaurant of
the municipality, where the conference will be held.
There we will once again have the pleasure to share our comet and planet
observations, we will discuss and present posters on all planetary aspects.
And there is a bonus: MEPCO'99 is held several days before a very
interesting and rare astronomical phenomenon - a total solar eclipse.
We hope that the
fine
weather forecast for this period of the year will allow participants of
MEPCO'99 who stay for just a few more days to observe the total solar
eclipse from special bases provided along the line of longest totality.
