Observing the Meteors: the IMO expedition

Five of the image intensifier meteor cameras are brought into their nightly positions by Jürgen Rendtel, president of the International Meteor Organization and organizer of the expedition.The cables run into a heated shack where all the VCRs were situated.

The 6th camera was operated by Wolfgang Hinz: Every time he spotted a promising fireball with a lasting train, he moved the camera there - and was able to document the evolution of these elusive phenomena for up to half an hour.

Not all photographic equipment (or photographers) took the exposure to below -30 degrees C for hours well...
