The Solar Corona of February 26th, 1998

These pictures of the corona were taken on slide film (while those from the main page were on print film), and Fujichrome direct prints from the slides have been scanned - a lot of detail gets lost this way, but the general impression is preserved nonetheless.

The dark Sun with a vastly overexposed corona, plus the planets Mercury (to the left) and Jupiter - and the chromosphere in the West, seconds before the 3rd contact that brought an end to the show. 1
