A Tribute to the Late Brother Joseph McNally from Jaya & Bhanu Nair

Often, people do not recognise the persons who have made an indelible mark on their lives until it is too late. For some, they did not get the chance to thank the recognised persons who made life a different path for them.

For my wife and I, we were not able to say thank you to the Late Brother Joseph McNally  founder of LaSalle-SIA Art College. Our hearfelt thanks goes out to him for having us as his technical assistants from years 1993 – 2001.

The man encouraged and challenged us with patience and grace in our progressive development as mixed media sculptors. He will always be in our hearts day in day out, every minute in our life and we will carry on his philosophy of fully absorbing and releasing of oneself into the making of a sculpture at no matter what cost. Also he firmly believed that the beauty of the sculpture should enhance, incorporate and blend with Mother Nature.

We know that everyone who has met with the late Brother Joseph McNally will agree with us when we say that he sacrificed himself for the love and greater good of Art in Singapore and regionally. His door was always open and he unfailingly shone a light on the true identity of a person's creative output when one groped blindly around to find it. His willingness to share freely his time is much admired and respected to this day.

In memory of the late Brother Joseph McNally and to the people behind the organisations that wholeheartedly supported him, our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to everyone for the opportunities created.
