My Raising Good Babies Philosophy

To become a successful racing pigeon fancier, you must be able to raise super healthy, strong birds.  Top competitors know this.

Champion quality pigeons come from the best parents producing the best eggs.  The fancier must provide the care to develop the babies into strong adults to take full advantage of the genetics they inherit.  Healthy, quality youngsters that grow up 40 days old, and have not been set back, have a huge jump start on the competition.

Hatching and to 40 days old is a critical time for baby pigeons. : During this period, a pigeon has the most growth it will have during its entire life.  If they do not develop to their full potential during this time, you cannot put it in them later.

Selection of quality pigeons for breeding cannot be emphasized enough.  Pigeons must be good parents with natural, vigorous health.  Most everything has a genetic background.  Top breeders of animals recognize this, and scrutinize the behavior and actions of each breeding animal.  It is better to have two or three pair of excellent pigeons than ten bad actors that are not getting the job done.  Keeping even one pair, even if they were good racers, but continually have problems is expensive and a hit and miss proposition.  Eventually these traits will get into your family, and you will never be able to get it out.

Time:  Do Not Waste It.  Every year there is a window of opportunity to breed young birds.  It only lasts a few months.  Everything should be done for a successful hatch.
