the lost city of COLORADO SPRINGS

Giant Pencil? Ok, wise guy since I can't seem to size this pic shorter I'll just dribble the commentary all over the page. It may be the tallest structure in town and its days may be numbered. It's the last defiant symbol of the Golden Cycle Crushing Mill which processed millions of $ of gold ore from the District. Now it stands sentinel over the cyanide scarred hillsides that are euphemistically being referred to as Gold Hill homesites.  Don't worry the cyanide and mercury are buried under lots of landfill--as long as you read the covenants and don't disturb the dirt in your yard.  ALLEGEDLY
Missing Your CAT?????
The lovely signature cat from VanBriggle Pottery's former location in Monument Valley Park.  During the transition of building ownership from Van B to Colorado College the original vanished.  This replica was lovingly constructed based on photos and newspaper articles.
No Thank You....we already gotta one of those.....

OK boys and girls...........we're not going to tell you where we found this one on 26th Street.  This charming (and somewhat spooky) Victorian home has two of dese guys guarding the front steps.  The Sphinx(es) are cast iron of unknown origin.  Our staff admired the aesthetics of placing an upright piano on the porch.
Fanny Mae Duncan, owner of the famous "COTTON CLUB" entertained in this lavish and ostentatious home in the 600 block of N. Corona.
Queen Palmer, wife of Gen William J. Palmer, ran an early school in this house. It is currently on El Paso & Espanola but was moved from Cascade & Bijou.
Springs OLDEST shopping center!!!
It was the late 40's I believe when "
Golf Acres" opened as our first "shopping center"...Southgate would follow shortly after.  Today it's the Senior Center on North Hancock.
When I'm good I'm good....whenI'm bad I'm nothing but a big heap of plaster.....the artist who lives on East Willamette (and doubles as a house painter), has created a lot of pop art yard sculpture...giant insects and lizards and this recumbent plaster saint or sinner.
Tempus still "fugits" at the former Van Briggle Building... now a CC Facilities Building
