Shelby GT500 Vs. '69 Camaro Z28 714 hp 680 hp 3560 lbs. 3306 lbs. 0-60 = 3.3 0-60 = 3.6 0-100 = 5.9 0-100 = 6.3 400m = 10.6 @ 144 400m = 11.0 @ 140 Top Speed = 200 Top Speed = 197+ After extensively testing both cars, they were both found to be very close to each other in most areas except acceleration and handling. Handling in both of these cars is rather tricky. For the GT500, the suspension is far too soft, and the car has a lot of body roll, which works towards heavy understeer, unless you have a good grasp of power oversteer and how it works. The Camaro, on the other hand, has much sharper handling, though it is slightly harder to drive, and was much easier to spin out than the Shelby. Both cars will need some heavy tuning to be competitive against similar cars, but the Camaro will probably need much less than the GT500, which needs to be pretty much completely readjusted. On most tracks, the Camaro is slightly faster than the GT500, which holds on to its reputation on the 400m. | This one was a suggestion to me from someone who also brought up several other ideas, which I will probably work on in the near future. |
