Andy Thelen_ Zero Spin Mizuo _ NSP
I'm a rollerblader of 3 years now, so does it follow that I have a problem with authority? I used to think otherwise. I had this idealistic view to everything. I saw it that the police were doing their jobs, and sure people may not like it, but those said people had probably broken one of our country's laws. I was also of the opinion that all Law was just, and that the Law existed not for the just, but the unjust, for the just carry the law in there hearts, and do not need to call it from afar. this all changed one faithful spring day. I was skating at NSP, grinding blissfully on those immaculate marble ledges. I spun off my grind and came to face with a man in his late 40's, bit of a gut, buzzed hair, and a duffel bag. he was pulling out his wallet, and much to my surprise it contained a badge. He rather coarsely instructed me to "get the fuck out of here." I nodded and said, "all right, we're leaving." I was more than happy to comply since I didn't desire a citation. I began to turn and leave when he stuck his arm out and pushed me rather roughly repeating "get the fuck out of here." Now, I'm fairly good at controlling my temper, but this was too much to handle. He was a cop, he had authority, and he was abusing it along with me. I pushed his arm off me and he said "didn't you fucking here me?" I looked at him and said coldly, " I heard you, I was leaving, don't fucking touch me again." He promptly pulled out handcuffs, slapped them on my wrists, and began telling me the magnitude of the mistake I had just made. I laughed and told him what poor police officer he was. My friends watched on, not knowing what to do, I shouted for them to wait for me and allowed the "officer" (from this point forth I will refer to him as "asshole.") to drag me down the street. He made me sit down and in excellent Nazi fashion he prodded me with antagonizing questions that challenged my intelligence. In the end, I was charged with Obstruction of Justice (i didn't answer one of his questions thoroughly enough), resisting arrest (i told him not to touch me...this was PRIOR to my arrest), and vandalism. I am currently without skate thanks to this ordeal and am awaiting my court date. I've had it. my view of the police establishment has been forever altered. Sure, some are just doing their jobs, and they risk their lives daily and do an excellent job maintaining order. However, as I have reported there are also power drunken assholes roaming the streets, waiting for the chance to flex their muscle. Assholes make mistakes, and this one was no exception...

1.) he assumed that since I was on skates, I was stupid.
2.) he failed to read me my Miranda rights.Tthis means he can't use anything I said to him in court which pretty much botches the resisting arrest.
I'm going to fight this when I go down to the Anoka county courthouse. Let my ordeal be a lesson to all you skaters...we are in danger of these sweaty thugs in blue. But also remember this, not all are out to get you, some even support the sport....keep a weary eye...
