Key Club Minutes
Presidents' Council Meeting
(Division 8B, Utah-Idaho Key Club District)
September 9th, 2006
12:00 PM--2:00 PM @ Steele Family Residence
Presided by Sally Steele, Lieutenant Governor 8B District; noted by Xinmeng Zhang, Skyline Key Club Secretary
Discussed and/or enacted:
Introduction of officers present.
Everyone received a copy of the August newsletter, along with reminders for club dues and new officer information.
President (from Hillcrest, Alta, Skyline, Highland, and West) reports on past and present status and activity were given.
Sally and Kathryn (District Secretary) described the "Four Seasons of Service" (including Service Emphasis and the District projects).
The district committee projects are integrated into Public Relations, the Major Emphasis Program, and Kiwanis Family Relations.
District projects this year revolve around the theme "growing relationships."
This year's MEP is "High Five for Health."
["Children, their future are our focus."]
Its goal is to nurture our children's nutritious values in five (currently unspecified) parts. Participating clubs will receive more information and media.
Every Key Club needs to emphasize on ways to retain members (public relations).
Working with our local Program committee to plan interesting and integrated agendas (slideshows, guest speakers) is highly recommended.
Also, share information (newsletters) with members.
Publicity Ideas include: send out flyers, submit articles to school newspapers, brochures, giving out freebies, word of mouth, socials and 'welcome back' parties for previous members, class extra credit for service hours, paper footprints to meetings, and collection/cookie wars.
Monthly Report Forms for Division 8B need to be sent in by the 10th of every month (detail other monthly activities to come as well).
Who is our local supporting Kiwanis advisor?
Go to Kiwanis-Family meetings and invite them to yours.
A t least one board or two key clubbers need to go to these meetings.
Structure of meetings:
There must be a meeting every week (by International standards).
First week: talk about future service projects.
Second week: discuss it.
Third week: reflect upon the results.
Fourth week: usually a club social of some sort.
Contact 1-800-Kiwanis for free merchandise to support the club. Also, subscribe and submit entries to the KeyNoter.
All Key Clubs should gather together for interclub activities.
There will be a Division Activity before the end of November.
Everyone brainstormed ideas for the activity.
Sally listed them all; she'll send the list to each of the 8B clubs so we can allow our clubs to decide their desired activity.
FALL TRAINING RALLY "Serving up a Storm" @ Lagoon on September 23rd from 12:00 PM--2 PM. Admission is $27; obtain coupons from president, and invite your advisors.
Finally, club visitation times by our Lieutenant Governor were assigned.
Session Adjourned: 2:10 PM
