Just a short note from the author:
A little about me, well okey alot about me:
I am 21 years old, my greatest dream is to raise colorful mini's and one day be a well known mini horse trainer. I love horses, Romeo is my first stallion, well he's my first male horse too.  I've always heard that stallions we unruly and needed an experienced handler and such. Romeo is none of that he's so sweet and kind that a 4 year old could handle him.
Unlike some very lucky little girls, I was not blessed with a family who had lots of land or money.  I begged  for a horse. My parents always said no. They thought it was a faze, boy were they wrong!

My neighbor told me that he would let me get a calf to raise and I could keep it on his land. I was extremely happy, It wasnt a horse but it could be rode and a calf is a lot closer to a foal than a puppy. I bought a 3 day old holstine/ jersey calf from the dairy for 40 dollars. We named her cocoa. I was 10 years old. I got up with the sun every morning to feed her before school. Every day after school I spent with her. I groomed her and learned how to make a halter out of rope. Talking about a stubborn cow. My sister pushed, I pulled. We did this for about 4 months till finally she was leading.    She grew up, and my sister took the first ride, without so much as a hint of a buck,  like it was the most natural thing to do. I got two beautiful calves out of Cocoa, which unfortunatly the first was a girl and we sold her a few months before the second (a boy) was born. Then on Halloween someone thought it was funny to let the cows out. My cow ate a poisoness plant. She died on Nov. 7th. I was a very sad little girl. She was only 13 hands high and by the time she was two my feet already went to her knees so I only got to ride twice. My little sister was the one who got to ride everyday, while I was grounded. Cocoa  died 2 months before she would turn 5 years old.  In the begining of the year  Cocoa died, I bought Shyanne (a poorly trained mustang) for 300 dollars with the money I made from selling the calves.
My neighbor decided that he didnt want Shyanne on his land anymore so I put her on my acre lot, which turned to dirt in a few months. I had to get ride of her : (  I ended up giving her away to some kids I was very sad. I turned 16 with no horse, no cow, not even a dog, so my parents got me a car. Thats cool and everything but a true horse lover would rather ride.
Finally when I was 17, I got my mom into the idea of getting me a pair of minature horses. She said I could get some as long as I paid for everything. I almost bought a palamino mare for 400 but I am glad I didn't. When I was notified that the lady still had Romeo I went to just look, but after I seen him in person, he was so cute that I said I'LL TAKE HIM!!  After all I've always had a thing for pinto's. He was 450 that is a lot of money for a 17 year old to spend. I had to  work for 3 months saving every penny just to get that money but ya know it was definatly worth it. I have owned him since Sept. 2, 2001 and I am totally in love with him, so is everyone who meets him and I wouldn't give him up for anything. I have had people stop in their cars and ask me how much I want for him and I just laugh at them and give them a *your crazy, dream on* look.
I let little kids ride him and pet him. He demands their attention and isn't happy till he gets a chance to say hi. He's been wanting a girlfriend to play with and i've been lookin and I came across Princess. At first she didnt like him, but now they are unseparatable. Things was a little shakey at first, but she has turn out to be a good horse.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot! My name is Amanda.  I own Princess, Romeo, Lady, Annie (riding horse), Bear (rescue dog), and Deja, a devilish little kitten  that I'm convinced is part bobcat.  Every barn should have a cat..  I love horseback riding and driving, training, reading, hanging out with friends, and coming up with new and strange food combos.
I find it hard to find ANY guys online or offline who really love horses and enjoy talking about them. I would like to marry someone someday, who likes the same things I do. I like computers, but in moderation. I really like nature you know like stars, the moon, clouds, trees, animals, I love it all.  Specially the sunset or sunrise. Thus the name SKYLIGHT. I like hunting squirrels, but I also like them for pets. I rescued a full grown squirrel, Dodger,  that got ran over he's back in the wild now and I raised 2 female squirrels, Tresa and Bailey, they joined Dodger in the wild as well..
