As we all know, there are 8 sabbats in the witches year.  Here I have chosen to share with you a few of the rituals I have written and performed with my students.  The rituals that we perform are very basic and no where near as eloaborate as some larger covens like to do, but they still serve thier purpose.  I hope you can get some use out of these old rituals.  Use them as they are or modify them to suit your own personal needs.

Call Lords and Lady

Goddess - High Priestess - White candle
Oak King - High Priest (or any covenmember) - Green Candle
Holly King - Priest (or any covenmember) - Red Candle

Holly King "The time has come for me to step down and hand my crown over to the Oak King.  Do not mourn my passing, for in a short time a new Holly King will reign again."  Hand crown over to Oak King.

Oak King "I accept the crown and now begin my winter reign.  I too shall pass on soon and hand my crown back to the new Holly King that is born this night."

Goddess "As all things come from me so shall they return to me.  The old Holly King now returns to me but alas his successor is born this Yule night.  Life is a continuous circle of life, death, and rebirth.  Do not mourn the passing of the Holly King but rejoice in the birth of the Divine Child."  Takes Holly Kings hand and walks toward the North quarter. " Pass on to the Summerlands now Holly King, and rest until you join us again."  Holly King sits down at north quarter, Goddess snuffs out red candle to symbolize the passing of the Holly King.

Priest/covenmember- release Holly King.

All meditate on the meaning of the season (death and rebirth, getting rid of the old and bringing in new).  When finished meditatin on the season, join hands and send energy to whomever may need it.  Ground and center, cakes and ale, release Lord and Lady, release quarters, open circle.
