| Circle Casting |
| Circle casting can be as elaborate or as simple as you want to make it. However for the beginning witch I suggest going with a more simple cast until you get the hang of it. When casting your circle you can invite the presence of whoever or whatever you wish to be in the circle with you (diety, faeries, dragons). The first thing you need to do is set your altar up either outside or in a large enough room that you can have at least 4ft on each side of it. Walk clockwise around your circle and using either your hand, athame or wand visualize a white light emminating from your body and drawing a circle on the ground. If you haven't gotten your visualization skills worked out yet you can actually trace the circle on the ground or if you are inside use a ribbon or sprinkle a protective herb like sage on the floor to mark your boundaries. As you are walking around your circle say something like " Guardians of the Watchtowers of the East, South, West, and North, I summon, stir and call upon you to witness and guard this circle" In doing this you should stop at each direction starting with the east and place an object or candle to represent that direction and element. At this time you should invite whomever or whatever you wish to join you in your workings. Now say " Our circle is cast and we are Between". After you have done this you can continure with your spell working. When you are done close the circle by saying " Guardians of the Watchtowers of the North, West, South and East I thank you for guarding my circle, depart with love." now thank everything else you invited in and remind them to depart with love. Say " My circle is open but never broken" . Ground and center your energies, get something to drink or what ever you need to do to relax after your work. Remember this is just a suggestion from me, you should always do whatever feels right to you, I have yet to meet two witches who cast circles in the exact same way. I don't even cast my circles the same way each time. You should always say and do what feels right to you at the time of your casting. |
