Just outside of St. Louis Missouri and across the Mississippi River near Collinesville, Illinois. is The Indian Village of The Cahokia. From 800-1400 A'D who lived a good and plentyful life,It is a large City in its self every thing that was needed was there they fished from the river and hunted in the woods nearby, and grew the rest of thier food, There is a tall fence built from logs surounding the land, the most amazing thing is the mounds they are shaped like the Egyption Pyramids, of course these people had not even heard of another place outside thier own world, so that thought alone is something to wonder about. I personally have Visited this Place and still am in wonderment over it. There is no explaniton as to what happend to these very resource-ful people, some desendants still live in the area but the storys of their elders was lost .~~ I have placed the URL to the site on my Index page, And if you get a chance to visit Cahokia, I am sure that it will leave you in wonderment also it is a peaceful place to be. We take life so much for granted some times that we forget that there were others who walked the face of the land way before us. ~~~~~~~~Life is but a whisper on the wind ~~~~~~~~ LittleHawk Sky~~~~~~~~~
Being Native Indian of mixed blood was keept a secret from me as a child. Then one day I was looking in a box where I thought my birth records were stored. I came across some very important papers on one of the papers was my father's name and I saw a picture of who I perceived him to be. This was all to confusing to me, as this man had dark skin, and on the back was writen Daddy. At the top was his name and to ~my sister name ~ so I took it to her and asked if it was my daddy. It surly is said my sister who is nearly 20 years older then me. I asked why is he so dark? And is this the reason I am so dark ? Yes, she said. He was Native Indian and thats all I could learn at the time. Then after I grew up I begain my research: My Dad is of the Qualla Tribe in NC. and my family is very old and many, I have found that my famly lines criss cross its self over and over. I have not gotten all the ends tied together yet: and may never. But at least I know who I am. I am with You,~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are All One Under One Sky~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Little Hawk Sky ~~
The Brown Hawk it has great vision and soars the sky, It is good to see a hawk fly over your head or your home lodge, this hawk was wonded by a thoughtless person and was placed in the St.Louis Zoo for it's health, it makes me sad to see it wounded but happy that it is getting good care. L H S.
