South Park City is the largest community in the South Park area, was once a mining camp. The South Park City Museum reinvents that time through a mining village, with 34 buildings and living-history interpreters on hand to guide you through life in the past.

Mountain Man Rendezvous

Bayou Salado Mountain Man Rendezvous
This is the first mountain man rendezvous of the season in South Park held in conjunction with Burro Days. The Rendezvous takes place about a mile north of Fairplay off Hwy 285 on the east side of the hwy. A mountain man rendezvous is a living history re-enactment of the fur trade era. This rendezvous focuses mainly on a trader's row for some of the most interesting shopping you will find. All items for sale are required to be from the 1840's time period. So you probably would find beads, leather, fur, blankets and fire-water. The public is welcome from 9am to 5pm - after that time, you must be attired in period dress.

Rocky Mountain College Mountain Man Rendezvous
Promotes a trader's row, AND classes !  Here you can learn iron forging, bead work, flint knapping, black powder shoot, quill work, how to set up a tee-pee, etc. Period dress is required after 5pm. It is sponsored by the Colorado State Muzzel Loaders Association and is located in the lost park area. Follow the signs on Hwy 285 that take you east of Jefferson.

Como Mountain Man Rendezvous
The public is welcome on Saturday and Sunday days only. There are a variety of black powder shoots, primitive bow shoots, hawk and knife throws, a camp cook contest, the drunken husband throw, and children's events.
