A Final Goodbye

Angel stood there in the shadows watching as the crowd gathered around the newlyweds. Giving them hugs and kisses, showering them with rice as they ran out to the waiting car.

It had been five years since he'd left Buffy and Sunnydale. He'd told her to get on with her life. He knew it had been hard for her at first. But she had adjusted. Dated several guys. Now he stood here and watched as she left to go on her honeymoon. His cold unbeating heart was breaking. He'd give anything if only it was him she was going off with.

Angel sighed and turned there was nothing else for him to see. He was leaving tonight. Going back to Ireland, to the land of his birth. To live out his life of eternal loneliness.

"Angel."

He turned Willow stood there, she smiled at him faintly, "Couldn't stay away had to watch Buffy get married."

Angel fidgeted, "So you knew I was here...oh Willow, she was beautiful....she's happy right....she loves this guy?"

Willow nodded, "Buffy's happy and yeah she does love him."

Angel looked up at the night sky, "I'm going to Ireland."

Willow sighed, "Put some distance between the two of you."

Angel smiled, "It's more than that Willow I was born there, I died and came back from the dead there, I feel the need to return maybe I can find some peace there that I can't find here."

Willow went over and gave Angel a hug, "I'm going to miss you, and I hope you find what you're looking for."

Angel hugged her back, "Say goodbye to her for me when she gets back from her honeymoon, tell her where I'm going and why."

Willow wiped tears from her eyes, "I will Angel, goodbye my friend."

Angel kissed Willow on the cheek, "Goodbye sweet Willow."

Angel then turned and disappeared into the night.

The Future Part 1

Angel sat in front of the fireplace of his home near Galway Ireland. He'd found this place just a few miles outside of the city in a small rural area. It suited his needs and he had turned a dilapidated old farm house into a decent comfortable place to live.

It had been six almost seven years since he'd left California and came here. He had few if any regrets about the move. It was strange but the people of the small village nearby seemed to know what he was and had accepted him in fact had taken him in and helped him as much as they could.

Angel would find on the kitchen table in the early evening when he awoke a jar or two of fresh blood. Usually pigs but now and then beef. He'd also find fresh flowers on some of the tables that dotted several of the rooms in his house. And when one woman found out he liked cookies and could eat them he was always finding fresh homemade cookies on the table.

Angel sighed and listened to the rain as it fell. If it wasn't raining he'd probably head into town and go to the small pub and drink a few pints of ale with the locals and discuss sheep, pigs, cows and whatever else the farmers wanted to talk about. He'd learned a lot about such things listening to them talk.

Of course there was always Maggie. She knew he didn't want a relationship with anyone. he'd told her about Buffy and the curse. The curse had been taken care of and if he needed some time with a woman Maggie was there for him. She was widowed and had four sons and didn't want any invovlement either. But as she said once I got my needs. So Angel took care of her needs and she took care of his.

Angel sighed and put down the book he was reading. It was on nights like this that he truely felt the loneliness of his life. And thought about Buffy and wondered if she was happy and if she had children. He hoped so?

Angel stood and paced around the room and listened to the rain it was coming down even harder.

Part 2

Angel added another log to the fire and stood back and watched it catch fire. He sighed and turned back to the chair he had been sitting in. Just as he sat down a loud knocking was heard on his front door. He frowned he wondered who'd be crazy enough to be out in this weather.

Angel quickly answered the door and saw a small wet bedraggled figure standing there holding something close to it's chest and an even smaller wet figure was clutching the hand of the other one. "Can I help you?"

The small figure looked up at him and the whole world tilted for Angel it was Buffy, "Angel help."

Angel reached out and pulled her into his home, "My god Buffy what are you doing here and how did you find me?"

Buffy shivered and handed him the bundle she was carrying. He took it and when it moved he looked down and saw that it was a baby.

" Buffy come over to the fire where it's warmer."

Buffy followed, "Angel that is my daughter Daphne you're holding and this is my other daughter Melinda."

Angel frowned at her and watched as she removed her drenched coat and Melinda's. He looked around then gently placed the baby on the couch.

"I'll be right back with some towels and a blanket."

Angel quickly returned and found Buffy unwrapping the baby from the blankets she'd had her in.

Buffy looked up at Angel and smiled a little, "Sorry for the intrusion but I had nowehere else to go."

Angel handed Buffy a towel, "You are never an intrusion and like I asked before how did you know where to find me?"

Buffy sighed and took the towel and started drying Melinda's hair and face, "Giles told me a couple years ago right before he disappeared, I don't know how he knew."

Melinda looked up at Angel, she smiled at him, he smiled back she was a miniture Buffy, "Hi I am 4, I want milk."

Angel looked over at Buffy, "I'll be right back, do you want anything I can make some tea."

Buffy nodded her head, "That sounds good."

Angel left the room and went into his kitchen. He was reeling from the sudden appearence of Buffy and her two daughters. He got busy and soon had the tea made. Thankfully he did have some fresh milk in his fridgerator. Angel also put some of the cookies he had on a plate. He then carried everything on a tray out to where Buffy was waiting.

Part 3

Angel carefully placed the tray on the table next to his chair. He turned to Buffy and stopped and stared she was nursing the baby.

"How old is she?"

Buffy looked up. "Three months she wasn't planned after Melinda was born the doctor told me I couldn't have any more children, so when I found out I was pregnant again I was surprised, luckily I had no problems with her like I did with Melinda."

Angel nodded his head and handed Melinda the glass of milk and a cookie.

Buffy watched him, "Angel milk and cookies that isn't your usual diet."

Angel laughed, "I like cookies and milk, these are homemade by a very dear friend and the milk comes from her husband's dairy."

Buffy sighed, "You've made a life for yourself here you even have your Irish accent back a little."

Angel grinned, "I do? I hadn't notice."

Buffy finished with the baby and reached for the backpack she'd been carrying. She reached in and got out a diaper. She quickly had the baby changed.

Buffy glanced up, "I need a bathroom to wash my hands and where do I throw this out."

Angel reached down and picked up the baby, "The bathroom is down that hall on the right and there is a trash can in there you can put the diaper in it."

Buffy smiled and stood up she looked at Angel as he held the baby and walked over to the fireplace. She sighed and went in search for the bathroom.

Angel hummed a song he remembered from his youth. The baby yawned and looked at him. Angel's heart was soaring he was holding Buffy's baby and it felt good.

Melinda tugged at his shirt hem, "Mommy need to pee." Angel smiled, "This way."

Angel led Melinda down the hall to the bathroom door and knocked, "Buffy, Melinda needs to use the ah toilet."

Buffy opened the door and laughed at the sight of Angel cradling a baby and Melinda holding onto his shirt hem, "Come here sweetheart."

Melinda went into the bathroom with her mom. Angel went back out to the livingroom and sat down in his chair and held the baby close as she slept in his arms.

Part 4

Buffy and Melinda came back into the livingroom.

Angel looked up at Buffy and smiled, "You have two beautiful daughters, I don't even want to let this one go."

Buffy smiled slightly, "Thanks they are my life and I'll let you hold Daphne a little longer."

Buffy had Melinda lay down on the couch and she covered her up with the blanket. She was soon sound asleep.

Buffy turned to Angel and smiled faintly. "Angel my life was going good but not perfect. I loved my husband Andrew and the birth of our daughters brought us both joy. He was good to me and he loved me. It all fell apart six weeks ago, he was killed in a car accedent and soon after the funeral his folks tried to take my girls away from me said I was a unfit mother and all kinds of lies about me. I managed to hang onto my daughters for now but I know that they will try again so I decided to disappear and go where no one would find me, that's why I'm here I was the only one Giles told where you were at and I told no one not even Willow."

Angel sat there with a pensive look on his face, "You have nothing to fear I will take care of you and your daughters, I have made some very good friends here and they will help me keep you safe."

Buffy sighed, "I had no where else to go and I feel like such a burdon you have been living alone and now here we are moving in on you."

Angel stood up carefully, "Buffy you are not a burdon I have been alone and not liking it I think of you constantly it is my privilage and pleasure to take care of you and these two beautiful little girls, now you are tired and need some rest I have plenty of room here, I'll let you have my room to sleep in come let me show you where it is at."

Buffy followed Angel up a small flight of stairs and to a room with a huge oak bed and a chair with a dresser, "There is plenty of room for you and Melinda to sleep in the bed and as for Daphne she can sleep in one of the dresser drawers."

Buffy frowned, "Dresser drawer?"

Angel laughed and handed the baby to Buffy then went over and pulled out a drawer.

He placed it on the floor next to the bed, "See it's perfect well for tonight at least." Buffy smiled, "You know the oddest things,"

Angel grinned, "I guess I do I'll go get Melinda."

Angel left the room. Buffy laid the baby down on the bed and quickly made a bed for her in the drawer using a small pillow and a couple t-shirts of Angel's. She then laid the baby into the drawer and smiled. Angel returned with Melinda. Buffy quickly turned down the cover on the bed and Angel placed Melinda on the bed.

"If you need anything let me know, one thing where are your suitcases and how did you get to my place?"

Buffy sighed, "Rental car a few miles from here it broke down and I took a chance and started walking until I saw the lights and I got lucky it was your place."

Angel nodded his head, "The rain has stopped for now I'll go find your car and see what can be done."

Buffy went over and hugged Angel, "I knew I could count on you."

Angel hugged her back, "Always."

Angel then turned and left the room and put on his coat and left the house.

Part 5

Angel quickly found the rental car that Buffy was using. After checking it out he knew he'd need help in getting it started. Looking around he smiled he was near the Calhoun farm and he knew their son Ian could fix anything.

Angel found Ian working in the barn when he walked up to the farm. He explained to Ian what he needed from him and soon the two men were busy getting the car started.

Angel turned to Ian, "Thanks and don't tell anyone about this."

Ian smiled he liked Angel even though he was a vampire, "Look I saw nothing."

Ian turned and headed back to his place. Angel drove the car to his then parked it inside the big barn where he kept his own cars parked. Angel got the luggage out of the trunk and went inside his home.

Angel found Buffy sitting in front of the fire sipping tea and eating cookies. She was wearing one of his robe. Her hair was damp. Must have taken a shower while I was gone.

Angel smiled, "Buffy I have your things here."

Buffy turned and smiled at him, "Thanks, hope you don't mind I took a shower and this was all I could find to put on."

Angel smiled, "I don't mind, let me take these bags upstairs for you."

Angel climbed the stairs. He quietly entered the bedroom and placed the bags on the floor. He glanced at the bed and smiled. Melinda had kicked the covers off and she was wearing one of his t-shirts. He gently covered her back up. He checked on the baby she was sleeping peacefully in her make-shift bed. Angel left the room and went back downstairs to where Buffy was waiting.

Angel walked over to the couch and sat down next to Buffy, "You have two sweet little girls, I covered Melinda back up and the baby was sleeping peacefully."

Buffy sighed and looked at Angel, "For the first time in weeks I feel safe, that I can relax and not worry."

Angel frowned, "Buffy tell me more about what is going on."

Buffy stared at Angel and tears formed in her eyes, she then looked down at her hands and sighed.

Part 6

Buffy sat back against the couch, "I wish I could say my life was perfect that I made all the right choices. Oh it wasn't bad though, Andrew loved me I will give him credit for that. He knew all about you Angel and my being the slayer everything and he accepted it. He knew I didn't love him as much as I do you that he was my second choice. When we first got married things were pretty good then I had a miscarriage and then a second one it put a strain on our marriage and my mother-in-law didn't help. Started digging at me about not being able to have babies, that she'd had no problems.

When I got pregnant a third time I just knew if I lost it again my marriage was over but I got lucky and had Melinda, it was a hard time for me I was sick and the last two months I stayed in bed most of the time and the birth was a difficult one, she only weighed 5lbs and 4ozs she was so tiny.

When I was told I couldn't have any more children it hurt I wanted at least one more. Andrew he seemed to withdraw from me we rarely talked and his mother was always butting in on our lives and telling me I didn't know how to take care of a baby, it was horrible.

Then shortly after Melinda's first birthday Giles came by and we talked he told me that his past was catching up with him again and that he had to leave, he handed me a piece of paper and said here is where safety can be found, It was your address, I memorized it then destroyed the paper I didn't want anyone finding it.

Andrew and I split up a few months later he was having an affair. His mother was very happy she liked his new girlfriend said it proved I was useless as a wife and mother. When Melinda was two she got real sick and ended up in the hospital. She was there for several weeks she had a fever that wouldn't go down and she kept having spasms it was horrible. That's why Andrew and I got back together we talked a lot during that time and he said he realized that he had been listening to his mother and not to his own self.

His mother threw a fit when she found out we were back together called us at the oddest times about nothing. Invited us to dinner and when we got there the woman Andrew had an affair with was there of course we left. Then I found out I was pregnant again, this pregnantcy was different than my first no problems and an easy delivery Daphne weighed 6lbs and 10ozs.

Then one day Andrew was making a delivery to a work site and a tire blew on his truck he lost control and rolled off an embankment. He died a few hours later at the hospital. The funeral was hard to get through at least my mom and Willow were there, the next day my mother-in-law came to my house and demanded that I hand over my daughters to her that I was unstable and that I was an unfit mother that I had been a lousy wife to my husband.

I told her to get lost that they were my girls and that there was no way she was getting them. She tried to take them from me got a lawyer and tried to have the courts declair me unfit. Luckily the judge didn't see things her way and denied her petition. My father-in-law who I always got along with told me to get myself lost he gave me cash and asked no questions, that's why I'm here, my in-laws are seperated she refuses to sign any divorce papers and is giving him hell."

Angel sat there and listened to Buffy tell her story feeling hatred for a woman he didn't even know.

Part 7

Buffy finished talking then started to cry. Angel reached over and took Buffy into his arms and held her close as she sobbed. Buffy curled up against Angel. She felt safe for the first time in months. She sobbed hard letting all the hurt, anger and frustration flow from her tiny frame.

Angel just held her and stroked her hair very gently with one of his large hands. He knew she needed this release and that it would be the first step in feeling better about her life.

Buffy finally felt the flow of tears slowing down. She pulled back slightly and stared up at Angel.

She gave him a slight smile, "I never stopped loving you and I knew that you would take care of me if I came to you." Angel brushed a strand of hair away from Buffy's face, "I never stopped loving you either, and you have a home here with me for as long as you need one, forever if need be."

Angel then leaned down and gently kissed Buffy. She kissed him back and soon a passion that had been hidden came forth. They needed each other they wanted each other.

Angel scooped Buffy up and carried her over to the floor in front of the fireplace. He gently opened the robe she wore. The only thing she wore under it was a pair of thin panties. Angel drank the sight of her body in. He found it hard to believe she'd given birth to two babies. Her body was beautiful. He smiled at her then kissed her again she moaned as his hands gently roamed along her body, she was his and always had been.

Angel kissed her neck then bent down to kiss her breasts. He could see the fullness from the milk they contained. He smiled and gently kissed around her nipples trying to avoid them they stood out from the milk and the pleasure he was inducing. A small trickle of milk leaked from her breasts and without thinking Angel licked it from her breast. He was surprised at the taste it wasn't all that bad. Angel then sucked very carefully on one of her breasts and more milk flowed into his mouth.

Buffy giggled and looked down at him, "What do you think you're doing?"

Angel stopped and smiled, "Enjoying myself do you mind?"

Buffy smiled and ran her fingers through is hair, "Not if you don't."

Angel suckled a little bit more then moved on down her stomach. He parted her legs and bent his head down and began sucking and licking the area around her clit. Buffy moaned and slightly thrust her hips against his face.

Angel could take no more. He stopped what he was doing then positioned himself between her legs and thrust into her. She thrust back driving him deep into her. They soon were thrusting against each other in a perfect union of motion. Angel could tell she was near her climax so he reached down between them and began to massage her clit. Buffy moaned then her orgasm hit her in waves and she cried out from the intense feeling of fulfillment that over came her. Angel rocked hard against Buffy and his own climax hit him hard and with one last thrust he spilled his cold seed into her.

Afterwards Angel pulled the blanket around them and held her close, "Buffy I love you, and always will, you have nothing to fear."

Buffy snuggled up aginst Angel, "Angel I love you too, I feel as if I have finally come home, wait we just, what about?"

Angel smiled, "Not a problem hasn't been for some time."

Buffy smiled and laid her head on Angel's chest and soon drifted off to sleep, Angel held her close he felt as if finally his house was a home.

Part 8

Angel lay there and held Buffy close listening to her heart beat. He felt at peace for the first time in years. He lay there a little longer then realized he was about to fall asleep himself. He decided it would be better if Buffy slept in the bed upstairs with her daughter. Angel quickly put his pants back on then gently put the robe back on Buffy and picked her up. She moaned slightly in her sleep then snuggled against his chest. He carried her upstairs and laid her in bed next to Melinda.

Angel checked on the baby and found her awake. He picked her up and realized she needed her diaper changed. He looked over at the sleeping Buffy and sighed. After a couple of tries he managed to get the baby's diaper changed he smiled in self gratification at what he had done.

Holding the baby he went over to the chair he had in his room and sat down. Angel gently hummed a little tune until she fell asleep. He placed her back into her bed and quietly left the room and went back downstairs.

Angel stretched out on the couch and fell asleep with a smile on his handsome face.

A few hours later Angel woke up and found Melinda standing over him. Thumb in mouth and holding a rather ragged teddy bear in the other hand, she smiled when she saw him open his eyes, he smiled back.

"Melinda good morning and what may I do for you?"

Melinda giggled, " Food, milk, toonys."

Angel frowned, "Sure let me get up."

Angel got up and pulled on his shirt. He headed for the kitchen, Melinda followed him she was humming and giggling he loved it. In the kitchen he found some more milk and cookies. He sighed as he watched her eat the cookies.

Angel picked up his phone and called Maggie, "Hi it's Angel need a big favor ah Buffy showed up last with her two daughters one is four the other three months she doesn't want anyone to know she's here what I need is food and I think diapers I didn't see very many when I changed the baby earlier, oh ok thanks."

Angel hung up the phone and sighed, he glanced over at Melinda she was through with the cookies and milk, she smiled back at him, "Toonys."

Angel frowned he knew food, milk but what the heck was toonys? Angel went back into the livingroom and sat down. Melinda followed him and started looking around then stopped and pointed at Angel's tv. Something he rarely used but had.

"Toonys."

Angel grinned and went and plugged in the tv and turned it on. After a few minutes he found some cartoons and Melinda curled up in his lap and watched the tv. He held her and smiled.

Part 9

Angel sat and held Melinda as she watched the cartoons that were on the tv. He felt complete, the loneliness of his existence was wiped away by one small little girl. Angel sighed he knew beyond all shadow of a doubt that he wanted Buffy and her two daughters to be a permanent part of his life.

Angel heard the back door open and Maggie's voice called out quietly, "Angel."

Angel picked up Melinda, "I want you to meet someone and she might have some food with her."

Melinda wrapped her arms around Angel's neck as he carried her into the kitchen area, "Hi Maggie this here is Melinda."

Melinda peeked out from where she was hiding her face buried in Angel's neck and smiled, "Hi."

Maggie smiled, "Well aren't you a cutie, hey look what I brought, food."

The door opened again and Sue Hanson walked in, "Hi Angel, Maggie called and told me what was going on so I brought over some more milk and cookies plus a few other dairy items I figured you'd need, oh and who is that little darlin'?"

Angel grinned at Sue, "Thanks and this is Melinda."

Maggie looked up from where she was storing the food she'd brought, "I wonder if she likes oatmeal, I'll make some."

Angel frowned, "Go right ahead."

Maggie and Sue chatted back and forth while Maggie made the oatmeal. Angel sat and held Melinda who didn't want to get down she was actually clinging to him.

Melinda looked up at Angel then hit his chest lightly with her fist, "No boom boom."

Angel frowned then smiled, "Oh ah it's ok Melinda."

Maggie and Sue glanced over at Angel then shook their heads, Sue spoke up, "Children notice things Angel so be careful around her."

Angel nodded in agreement, "I'm finding that out."

Maggie brought the cooked oatmeal over to the table and set it down, Melinda looked at it, "Sugar."

Maggie got the sugar bowl and put a little bit of sugar in the oatmeal.

Melinda tasted it and frowned then looked up at Angel, "Milk,"

She pointed at the butter that Sue had placed on the table> Angel smiled added butter and milk to the oatmeal and stirred it up for her.

Melinda smiled and began eating the oatmeal. Maggie poured her a glass of milk and put it on the table Melinda looked up and smiled at Maggie.

Part 10

Angel was holding Melinda as she ate her oatmeal and listening to Maggie and Sue talk about some neighbors new baby. Maggie stopped talking and looked up. Angel turned his head slightly and smiled Buffy was walking into the kitchen carrying Daphne.

Angel, "Good morning Buffy, this is Maggie and Sue I called Maggie this morning and she called Sue they have brought over some food, Sue is the one who makes those cookies."

Buffy looked at both of the women and smiled slightly, "Morning, ah Maggie, Sue, oh Melinda you're eating oatmeal good."

Melinda looked up at her mom and grinned, "Good."

Maggie stood up, "I have some diapers out in the car Angel said he thought you might need some, I'll be right back."

Buffy sat down and reached for the glass of milk that Melinda hadn't finished off and drank a few sips, "Wow this is fresh and sweeter than what I usually buy."

Sue laughed, "Oh the cows were milked this morning then the milk was processed and I grabbed a couple of the bottles and came on over here."

Buffy smiled, "This morning, wow."

Sue grinned at her. She felt that this tiny little woman could be a friend. Buffy opened her robe and started nursing Daphne. Sue frowned she could see little nips and scratches on Buffy's chest. She'd seen these once before on Maggie when she was helping her pick out a dress to wear to a party one night. She'd asked Maggie about them and she was told they were Angel's love bites.

Maggie came back in with the diapers and placed the bag on the floor near the table. She glanced over at Buffy and saw her nursing the baby and then spotted the nips and scratches. She glanced over at Angel who was gazing at Buffy very lovingly.

Maggie turned to Sue, "Well I must be going have errands to run."

Sue stood up, "I'll walk you out I have errands myself, well bye Angel nice meeting you Buffy."

Maggie turned to Angel, "If you need anything give me a call well bye nice meeting you."

Maggie and Sue left then when they got to Maggie's car she turned to Sue, " She just got here and already."

Sue frowned, "Maggie girl you've always known about Buffy and you said yourself you didn't expect anything from Angel, it's obvious how much they are in love with each other so don't cause any trouble it won't get you anywhere."

Maggie sighed, "I know and you are right those two are very much in love so we must do everything we can to help them out."

Sue smiled then got into her car. Maggie got in hers and they drove off.

Part 11

Buffy had been at Angel's now for three weeks and they had settled into a routine of sorts. Angel had no problems taking care of either child. He and Melinda were almost inseperateable. Angel would fix her breakfast every morning then sit and watch tv with her. He'd even bought a satallite dish so that there would be more to watch.

Buffy was amazed at Angel and Melinda. They got along so perfectly. She mentioned to Angel that Andrew left the care of the girls to her, hardly ever helped out. Buffy had turned Angel's house into a home. She added curtains to the rooms that had none. Picked out some furniture for the empty rooms and was learning how to garden from Mrs.Callaway the old lady that lived nearby.

Sue and Maggie helped out as much as possible. Teaching Buffy about how things were done in Ireland or at least their part of it. Angel would sit at night and read bedtime stories to Melinda he'd found some old childrens books stored in the attic of the house and was enjoying reading them to the girl.

Maggie came over one day and was observing Melinda, she turned to Angel, "I'd like a word with you alone."

Angel followed MAggie into the room that he had declaired his study, "What is wrong."

Maggie shook her head, "I have noticed that Melinda is always tilting her head sideways and has a tendency to hold her hand over her right ear, and for a four year old her speech pattern is off slightly."

Angel sighed, "I thought so myself but I'm not use to being around little ones, look I'll talk to Buffy about this and let you know what she says."

That evening after they had put the girls to bed and were in the room they shared Angel turned to Buffy.

"Buffy don't get mad but I'm worried about Melinda, she seems a little slow for a four year old in her speech I was wondering if you would let her be tested."

Buffy sat there and brushed her hair, "Angel ah damn go ahead and have her tested the doctors told me there might be problems after that high fever and those spasms."

Angel went and kissed the top of Buffy's head, "It's ok she'll be fine she's a pretty smart kid really."

Buffy smiled at Angel, "Yea she is, ah did I hear her call you daddy today?"

Angel sighed, "Yes I didn't teach her that if you don't want her to I'll understand."

Buffy smiled, "She needs a daddy and she loves you so much."

Angel bent down and kissed Buffy. "Let's go to bed."

Buffy giggled, and stood up then turned to Angel and smiled. Angel walked over to her and took her into his arms and hugged her tightly.

Part 12

The following week Maggie took Buffy and Melinda to the childrens clinic in Galway for testing. Angel stayed home with the baby Daphne and waited for them to return. While waiting he cleaned the house. Picked up Melinda's toys and stashed them in the small chest he'd found for her to keep such things in.

Angel had just put Daphne down for her nap when Sue showed up all upset, "Angel I was just in town and over heard a man asking questions about Buffy, luckily the people he talked to kept quiet, but still he's here and asking around."

Angel frowned he didn't need this kind of news today. He had enough on his mind worrying about Melinda, "Thanks for telling me I'll keep and eye out for anyone snooping around."

Sue gave a faint smile, "So will I." She said her goodbyes and left.

Angel couldn't keep still after that. He kept going to the windows and peeking out the best he could when he finally spotted Maggie's car he sighed in relief.

Buffy came in with Melinda. Maggie following close behind with several shopping bags, "We did a little shopping while we were out."

Melinda ran over to Angel, "Up daddy up."

Angel swooped Melinda up in his arms and gave her a big hug then turned and hugged Buffy, "I am so glad you are back home, I ah got some unsettling news today from Sue, it seems there is someone asking questions about you in town."

Buffy frowned, "Oh god no, Angel."

Angel sighed, "Shh don't worry I've been thinking about what I'm about to tell you for some time I've even consulted with a lawyer, Buffy I want to marry you and adopt the girls."

Buffy stared at Angel then smiled, "Oh yes Angel yes."

Maggie smiled, "I'll help out all I can."

Buffy and Angel turned to Maggie and smiled. Angel hugged and kissed Buffy. Melinda who was still in Angel's arms giggled.

Part 13

Angel was worried about the idea of someone asking around for Buffy. So after a brief discussion it was decided that they would go else where. Angel knew of a place where they would all be safe and where they could plan their wedding.

The evening after they got the news that Buffy was being sought they left the small but cozy house that they called home. Tears slipped down Buffy's cheeks as they left. Angel squeezed her hand and told her that they would return.

They traveled for a couple of hours before Angel finally stopped at a small cottage near the ocean. It looked abandoned. Angel reassured Buffy that it was fine. They went in and soon Angel had a small fire going in the fireplace to warm up the place. Angel then brought in the luggage and other things that they knew they would need.

The cottage was two large rooms downstairs and three small ones up stairs. The only bathroom was downstairs tucked away under the stairs.

Angel looked around and smiled, "I lived here when I first came to Ireland a few years ago no one knows about my living here." Melinda wasn't very happy with the move at first. But she had her mommy and the man she now called daddy and so she didn't mind for very long. Buffy quickly got the place cleaned up and with Angel's help got their things put away.

Buffy looked around, "It is cozy and I really don't mind for now."

Angel laughed, "Consider this a pre wedding honeymoon with the girls."

Buffy laughed at that, "When will we get married?"

Angel smiled, "My lawyers are getting everything in order I told them I'd call them tomorrow evening and find out the details."

Buffy smiled then walked over to Angel, "I love you so much."

Angel took her into his arms, "I love you too Buffy."

They put the girls to bed then headed for the room they were going to sleep in. They settled in for the night. Angel and Buffy could hear the pounding of the waves on the rocks nearby.

Part 14

Buffy, Angel and the girls soon adjusted to the small cottage. Melinda missed her toonys and whined about it for a couple of days. Angel's lawyers told them it would take a few weeks for them to get all the paper work together so that they could marry and at least a year for the adoption papers to be finalized.

Angel called Maggie and Sue both. They were looking after Angel's house and that yes the man was still around asking about Buffy. They had gotten his name a Peter Morris he was a detective from a law firm in Los Angeles California hired by Buffy's mother-in-law.

Angel told Buffy she panicked at the news, "She wants my babies."

Angel held her close, "She won't get them I'll do anything to stop her."

The coldness in Angel's voice frightened Buffy. She knew what he was capable of and also the kind of "friends" he had.

Angel was very carefull around the small village that was a few miles away. He never stayed away from Buffy and the girls for very long when he did go there. Buffy had a hard time keeping Melinda in the cottage. She wanted to play outside. Buffy didn't feel safe for several reasons. The man looking for her, the cliffs and the wild ocean below the cliffs.

Four weeks after they came to the cottage, the paper work was finally finished and they could now get married. Angel, Buffy and the girls went to Maggie's. Her and Sue had everything planned for the wedding. It was going to be a brief ceremony in a small private chapel on a small estate nearby. The owner was a friend of Sue's and was a bit of a romantic.

Part 15

The wedding ceremony was brief but romantic. Buffy had tears slipping down her cheeks the whole time. She couldn't believe she was marrying Angel and in Ireland. Angel noticed the tears that gently rolled down Buffy's cheeks. He had his own tears to contened with. She was so beautiful in a pale blue dress, her hair brushed against her shoulders and she wore a simple square of white lace as a veil.

Maggie, Sue and Sue's husband Rory were the witnesses. Melinda served as her mothers bridesmaid and Sue held the baby. After the ceremony they went back to Maggie's where a small dinner celebration for the newlyweds was held.

Maggie had collected the Angel's mail for him there was a letter from the clinic about Melinda's tests Buffy handed it to Angel, "You read it, please."

Angel took the envelope and opened it. He read the letter he smiled.

"Don't worry Buffy she's fine there is only one small problem she is a little bit deaf in her right ear, she hears out of it but it's mostly noise that's why she is always covering her right ear to block out the noise, the letter says a hearing aid will fix the problem and it was caused by the fever she had."

Buffy let out a little gasp, "A hearing aid is all she needs she's fine other wise, oh Angel that's good news right."

Angel hugged Buffy, "Yes it is and they make small ones today she'll adjust she's young."

Angel picked up Melinda and gave her a hug then turned to Buffy and smiled.

Part 16 NC 17 for light sex

The evening following the wedding ceremony Angel and Buffy drove back to the small cottage by the cliffs. Maggie had convinced them to leave the girls with her that they needed time alone.

Angel picked Buffy up and carried her over the thresh hold of the cottage's door. He carried her up to their bedroom.

Angel laid her down on the bed and smiled, "You're my wife now Buffy it's a dream come true."

Buffy cried, "Oh Angel I know I can't believe that we are here and married."

Angel leaned over and kissed Buffy then slowly began to remove her clothes. Buffy unbuttoned his shirt and ran her fingers along his chest, feeling the strong muscles.

They were soon undressed. Angel took her into his arms and held her close. He kissed her passionately then he sat up and began kissing and licking her body savoring her taste. Part 17

The next few days were filled with a bliss that neither thought they'd ever have. Oh they missed the girls but it was nice to be alone together.

The fourth day after they had returned it was near dark and Buffy heard someone prowling around outside. She quickly went upstairs and got Angel.

"Angel wake up we have company I think any ways I heard noises outside."

Angel woke up and listened. He heard someone walking around just outside the cottage he turned to Buffy and frowned, "Stay inside I'll look around."

Angel then got up and quickly put some clothes on. He slipped out of the cottage from the bedroom window. It wasn't much of a drop from the window to the ground. Angel did it quietly, he crouched down low and looked around his vampire eyesight came in handy. He saw a man lurking around the side of the cottage his back to Angel.

With the speed and quiet of a vampire Angel was on the guy. He grabbed him from behind and had him on the ground before the guy could even react.

"Who the hell are you and what do you want?"

The man was strong but he could tell the man that held him down was even stronger and he could swear the man's eyes glowed yellow, "Hey look I'm just trying to find a Buffy Summers Bently."

"Why do you want her?" Angel added pressure to the knee he had in the man's back.

"Ah....her....mother-in-law hired me said she's a danger to her two daughters that's she crazy."

Angel grabbed the back of the man's hair and jerked him up to a sitting position, " Buffy's name is no longer Bently and It's the mother-in-law that's crazy, now I have a message for you to take to her, Buffy is now my wife and her daughters are under my protection if she tries anything she'll be lucky if she survives another day."

The man gasped, "Yeah ok I'll tell her."

Angel then let the man up and glared at him his eyes glowed yellow. Just a hint of fang could be seen. The man gulped he felt fearful he didn't know who or what this man was in front of him was but he knew he meant what he said.

"You know I'll take my time getting back to LA with this news I'll just call and tell her it was a false lead."

Angel smirked his best smirk, "That's a good idea now get lost."

The man turned and ran putting distance between him and the man creature with the yellow eyes.

Angel went inside and found Buffy standing near the door, he smiled at her, "I took care of the problem."

Buffy stared at Angel his eyes still glowed yellow, "I bet you did you ought to see your eyes you probably scared the life out of him almost."

Angel chuckled, "He'll remember his visit to Ireland now come here Mrs. Kincade."

Buffy giggled and went over to Angel and he swept her up into his arms and carried her upstairs to bed.

Part 18

A year later Buffy and Angel sat in a lawyer's office. Melinda sat on Angel's lap. Buffy held Daphne the day had finally come for them to sign the paper work making Angel the legal father of the two girls. The lawyer smiled at the family in front of him. He'd done a lot of work the last few months for Angel some of which Buffy didn't even know about. She no longer had to worry about her her late first husbands mother taking the girls from her.

Angel signed the papers then Buffy and finally the witness Maggie.

The lawyer took the papers and smiled, "I'll file these today and in a few weeks you'll get the final drafts but as of this moment the girls are legally your daughters Angel."

Angel stood and thanked the man then turned to Buffy and smiled, "Let's go home."

Buffy stood and thanked the lawyer then followed Angel out the door, Melinda held on to her daddy's hand and Angel knew peace.
