All about them!

Who?

We got
Calamity one week after coming home from Reunion Island, that is around November 27th 2001. She had been mewing all day long and Debz [my sister] told me about it. So one night, I went out and found her on the other side of the road. I was afraid she would run away when she saw me, but she did not. I picked her and carried her inside, shutting all the doors and windows in case she would dare to run away. As soon as I let go of her, she ran to the dining room and jumped up the curtains using her claws. Scary. Then we put her in the garage for the night with a bowl of milk.

Next morning I woke up early and she was mewing at the door! We let her in and found a name Calamity Jane. [commonly called Calamity, Mity Mity] Calamity because of the way she surprised by us clawing her way up the curtains! She was weak and you could see she had not eaten for days: she was disproportionately thin and a little ugly.
And now?

She has put on a LOT of weight since then. Shes a fat cat [link fatcat] now. We got her sterilised in April 2002. She sleeps on the balcony next to the TV room as theres a tree next to it she can go down whenever she wants. Shes an outdoor cat, she loves to sleep on my neighbours roof [!] and loves cuddles.

By the way, in the pix you can see different eye colours for Calamity. She has pale golden eyes, it becomes light blue in the sun and green in the dark.

Who?

At the end of March 2002, a cat was WAILING in our yard. I took pity [or rather my ears took pity cos it was hard to sleep] and I asked Rose Marie to look for it. [sex as yet undetermined] The noise came from mums chou chou plantation and Rose Marie managed to find it. It was UGLY. It looked like a frog! I mean it. It was blind [his eyes were black] and could not walk. Its claws stuck out of his feet. We made it drink via a syringe [but it would still wail all day]. After a week or two, it managed to walk and started to see.feet.  It could not raise its head so it always sat on our feet. Rose Marie and Clifford [my uncle] said it was a male so Dad agreed to keep it. I started calling him Amalinze but no one liked the name. So we were having lunch one day and looking for a name. Mum came up with Nina. I told her Nina is a female name and it is a male. I said Id rather name him Nino. Debz was like uggggggh, and then I said El Nino Yeah, way cool. [Commonly called Nino]. After a few more weeks, he started eating and walking perfectly.

And now?

Nino is a lively cat. He loves to play and eats a lot more than he should [at times requires vet visits, lol]. He sleeps on my very big balcony. Sometimes he sleeps with us inside [in our beds of course, under the quilt, he loves quilts]. Hes growing quickly and is turning out to be more of a human than a cat. If only he could speak. The only cat hes in touch with is Calamity

There was a mix up about his gender. We were not sure whether he was male or female but the last time I brought him to the vet I asked him and he said its definitely a he. [Now you can see it clearly]

Hes got deeeeeeeeep green eyes that turn hazel in the sun. Hes really beautiful now and loves human beings, is like a human being actually.
