Meet Kobe

Kobe came to us in Januray 2002. He is now a permenant resident of our home because of dog aggression issues he has been found to have.
When we got the information from a friend on Kobe he was at the Effingham County Animal Control. He was the most severe abuse case we have had come into our home. At the time we picked Kobe up he weighted 104 pounds, had frostbite, worms, open sores on his body, many pressure sores that were swollen, open sores in his mouth as a result of his starvation that would bleed when he ate among other smaller problems. He was so emaciated that we could see all the smaller veins in his legs.
We carefully fed him small amounts every couple of hours to build him back up without getting him sick.

The reason Kobe was allowed to get into this shape was a divorce. The ex wife had kept Kobe and 5 wolf hybrids. They were starved to get even witht he ex husband who because of a restraining order could not care for the dogs. Kobe was in the worst shape and his aggression issues partly go back to having to fight for what little food they were given. For reasons we do not know she finally chose to turn over the dogs to Animal Control.

Today Kobe is 150 pounds and very healthy. He loves attention and time outside to run and play he is not the same dog we picked up less then a year ago. There are still a few areas where his hair will not grow back but most would never guess he was in the shape he was in.
