An Introduction to Contents of Portfolio
The EN 221 course outline is an introduction to the Short Story genre of writing. It
leads it's active participants to discoveries that makes them appreciate the critical
approaches used in literature in addressing some of the most profound and
controversial issues in society.
The Portfolio would give you, a progressive understanding of how these critical
approaches have managed to give me an appreciation of this genre.
This Short Story Growth and Progress Analysis would be accomplished by:
- Making selections from all my writing and work for this course.
- Presenting those selections in a collage format, arranged in chronological or
some other order that helps readers understand my growth.
- Make note of changes in my skills, perceptions, understandings, levels of
knowledge, types of insights, “moments” in the semester as you experienced
it, etc., while creating my collage
- Create a two-page document that chronicles my progress and reflects my
analysis of my performance in the course.
(The following guidelines/questions below summarize the report on the reflections
link.)
- . What I learned along the way?
- What differences I see in myself as a reader early on as opposed to now?
- Which assignments/course requirements helped me develop the most?
- Which authors I ended up liking the most, enough so I want to read more of
their work?
- What decision I have made about which critical approach(es) are most
agreeable to me? Why? And if I were writing one more essay, which texts I
would analyze, using the approach and how I would go about it?
After reading the portfolio please view the Short Fiction Story ,
"Living Colors On Time" I wrote, that complements this
understanding of progress.
Thank you very much and wishing you all Happy Holidays!
