COVENTRY CITY 0-1 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Well those who thought City had turned into a bunch of world-beaters after the opening day victory at Stockport were cruelly brought back down to earth

A sell-out crowd witnessed a poor City performance against a Wolves side that fielded Cedric Roussel. How the former Ghent,La Louviere striker was missed as City clearly need a big man to play up front with Lee Hughes. Jay Bothroyd is too young and too lightweight to be a regular selection. Had City got themselves sorted out and got Phil Massinga's work permit arranged instead of waiting for the post to arrive and then quickly appealed and reappealed, then Bothroyd would be playing reserve team football rather than starting for the first team. The sooner,Gary Breen is fit the better as Paul Williams had a nightmare and hoofed every ball.

With the game kicking off at 6.15pm due to ITV Digital,Wolves scored the only goal of the game when a 6th minute free kick from the left given by Uriah Rennie and taken by Mark Kennedy, fell to the unmarked Carl Robinson who fired the ball past Hedman from five yards.

City rarely looked like drawing level and the nearest they came was an 89th minute header from Paul Williams which hit the bar and bounced over. Wolves promptly raced down the other end and a Ketsbaia shot hit the bar.

Towards the end, One individual display his frustration by throwing his shirt down in disgust in front of the City dug-out before calmly walking out of the stadium and that summed up the performance.
