Save Our City - a statement

Following the departure of Gordon Strachan, this is the statement of the Save Our City campaign which organised Saturday's protest.
"Protests against Coventry City chairman Bryan Richardson and club President, Geoffrey Robinson MP will continue following the departure of Gordon Strachan from Highfield Road.
On Saturday, thousands of City fans joined in with an orgainsed protest against the ruling body on the clubs board.
During the and after game there were also calls for Strachan to leave, which now he has done, but if you have cancer, there is no point in only removing part of it.
There was a feeling amongst protesters that a move would be taken to remove Strachan following the protest, as Strachan has lived beyond his usefulness, as fans anger was 'meant' to be focussed on him, not the board.
Despite the welcome removal of one of the most inept managers in the clubs' history, we will not be content until the true achitects of the Coventry City's ruin are removed.
On Saturday, fans were asked to hold a poster with 'OUT' on it in big letter, and a short explanation of why the protest was necessary, which around 70% of supporters did.
There were also many home-made banners and chants continued throughout the game. After the game, around 3,000 fans remained in the west terrace to show their support for the protest, with a couple of hundred remaining until almost seven o'clock outside the King Richard Street entrance, preventing the Grimsby Town coach from leaving the ground.
The situation under Richardson and Robinson is this; Highfield Road was double-mortgaged and sold, work on the new ground (which should be finished by now) has not even been started and CCFC do not own the land.
The site is now under consideration to be the new Wembley. We have been relegated, the club are between 30-50m in debt and we are selling off all the players. With this, we have to take Geoffrey Robinson's record of four bankrupt directoships, and a career not unlike his mate, Robert Maxwell into account.
City shareholder, Ted Stocker, is currently working to find his target of 10% of private shareholders to force an EGM and the removal of Richardson as a director of the company.

The protest continues tomorrow as city visit Peterborough's London Road ground in the Worthington Cup."
