| BY COLIN HEYS AND KEV MONKS WIMBLEDON 2-4 COVENTRY CITY RESERVES The Sky Blues left it late to pull off an excellent victory against Wimbledon at Kingstonian FC. Trevor Peake included Gary Breen as part of his comeback to fitness as the only change to that which beat Leicester. In front of a crowd of 150 including a handful of City supporters, the Sky Blues took an eight minute lead when Gary McSheffrey went on a mazy run and hit a shot. The ball bounced off Jairo Martinez and into the net. In the 28th minute, Martinez increased City's lead when a Laurent Delorge shot was blocked by the Wombles defence, the ball fell to Martinez who blasted the ball into the net from six yards. In the 43rd minute,Wimbledon pulled one back when Wayne Grey hit a low shot from the edge of the box which went past Montgomery and into the corner of the net. After Gary McSheffrey was booked, the Wombles drew level when a long ball found Adam Nowland and his miss hit shot beat Montgomery and went into the net in the 82nd minute. Peake, decided to change the 4-3-3 formation he had been playing and threw Marco Brancati on for Mark Magennis. The move worked as City immediately regained their lead when Gary McSheffrey found space to fire home a half volley from the edge of the box. In the last minute, City wrapped up an excellent performance when Jairo Martinez, cut in,beat a defender, then the keeper, then the keeper again and tapped in from close range for a truly spectacular goal and the perfect way to net a hat-trick and a superb victory for the Sky Blues.
