| BY KEV MONKS COVENTRY CITY RESERVES 1-0 LEICESTER CITY RESERVES Yes, we finally managed a goal at Highfield Road and it came from a penalty. But as it was against them from up the M69 who cares, how we win as long as we do. To be honest, the first half was awful, with it taking 31 minutes for the Sky Blues to have a meaningful attack when Marco Brancati headed wide from a corner after Royce had saved a Lauren Delorge effort. Trevor Benjamin leading the attack for the scumbags, showed what a poor player he really is with an attempted overhead kick which saw him completely miss the ball and having a one on one with City debutant Andy Goram but was but off by the Scot's booming voice and blasted the ball wide. Robert Betts had two efforts at the end of the half but both went wide. Just after the restart, Leicester had Stefan Oakes stretchered off and this knocked the heart of a team whose only means of getting to goal was to fall over in the penalty box. City started to creat chances and Craig Pead did well to set up Lauren Delorge whose shot from five yards was saved by Royce in the 50th minute. Six minutes later, the impressive Gary McSheffrey did well to cut in and see his shot cleared for a corner. City by now were using both flanks to attack and in the 64th minute, Tomas Antoelius send over a superb cross which Martinez headed just wide. In the 71st minute, City finally took the lead that their pressure merited. Mark Noon was adjudged to be fouled in the box by the referee who had been making bizarre decisions all night. Gary McSheffrey who is one of the few people in the club that knows what a match against the scumbags means, took the spot-kick and fired low.into the bottom left of the goal to delight the 414 people inside the ground. Andy Goram only had one save to make all night and he made a reflex save a 75th header from Benjamin and saved the follow-up. Referee Mr Brat did his best,(and was abused for it) to give the visitors a chance of getting a point with a string of free-kicks and gave one in the last minute,on the edge of the box, but Benjamin the buffoon blasted the ball well clear of the bar. City broke down the other end and a 25th yard effort from Marco Brancati clattered a post and went out for a goal-kick. And that was that, City Reserves had got their first win and goal of the season and for the first time this season, the City support went home happy.
