Heartbroken

We sometimes wonder

what its all about

why do we put ourselves

though this hurt,

time after time

we try to mend

our broken hearts

there seems no end.

We try to tell ourselves

it will get better

but once again our life's

are shattered,

so hide away so no one gets close

build a wall 

so they cant get through

shield ourselves 

from the hurt and pain

tell ourselves 

we wont go there again.

but there's so much

we would be missing

if we stayed behind

that wall of our making,

the chance of happiness

and friends to confide in,

the chance to spread our wings

and show them what we're

made off,

but most of all

a love that is true,

a love you can cherish

and will cherish you.
