| Skwardya facts: * Skwardya is a verb in Cornish and means to 'tear, rip, rend, lacerate'. * Skwardya has appeared on national TV and international radio. * Skwardya still performs Beatles songs in Cornish - even though the group cannot release its recordings of them. * Skwardya started as a folk rock band, then turned into a trio, then duo. It seems we are back to five members if our new fiddle player stays! * Skwardya has two members who can speak Cornish. Matthew and Colin. Simon (former member) also speaks Cornish - and let us not forget a former occasional member - the late great Chris Cadwur James who was as fluent as anything. * Skwardya are hoping to represent Cornwall at the Pan Celtic sometime soon. * Skwardya almost exclusively perform in Cornish - but Dave and Matthew also go out as a duo sometimes called 'Towan' and play a mixture of 60s-90s standard blues/pop. * Skwardya's live sound is that of folk - but most of our CDs are produced with songs crossing a range of styles, from rock to pop and folk to dance. |
