| While some may say that Primus is nothing more than a showcase for Les Claypool's bass antics, I say who cares? The wicked grooves he weaves alone justify buying their albums. Throw in a killer backup of a band, wacky vocals, and some clay, and you've got one hell of a unique band. The songs themselves are a mere testiment to the band's musical prowess, and are not meant to be deep and intellectual, although they may come across as being so to some. Primus has gained both respect and mainstream appeal since the release of 1991's Sailing the Seas of Cheese went gold. While they may not be on the billboard chart's bestseller list anytime soon, Primus has a strong enough underground following and enough musical talent to keep them around for a long time. |
