Ahh.....football season is underway and all feels right with the world. My Georgia Bulldogs are 2-0 and SHUT OUT a Steve Spurrier coached team last weekend (I can't stand that guy). In fact, it was Spurrier's first shut out in like 20 years as a coach. Yeah, it's a real shame. That was followed up the next day with Atlanta going into Carolina and kicking the crap out of the Panthers. Oh how sweet it was. And I knew they were going to win. Remember the Vick-o-meter? In case you don't know, I can tell how Atlanta is going to play based on how my dog Vick acts the morning of a game...no lie. I'll throw his football and glow ball around the yard in the morning and if he chases them and catches them with sharpness and energy, I know Atlanta will play well. The days he doesn't seem to care or is listless and sloppy, I know Atlanta will play bad. This has honestly been a true barometer for the last two seasons. I know, it sounds ridiculous, but it's true. It's so accurate, I've gotten to the point where if he acts lazy on gameday, I get worried about the game. Yes, truly sad and pathetic but I don't care...I always have to do stuff to keep life fun and interesting so I can tell everyone stupid stories...hahaha. This time of the year is magical. Halloween is right around the corner which means cool new horror movies, cooler weather is on the way, I LOVE IT!
Now speaking of Vick (yes, once again the master of the segue), I've been taking him to the dog park over the last few weekends and he really digs it. In fact, when we come home he almost seems bummed out over the next few days because he doesn't have any other dogs to play with. Now I have toyed with the idea of getting another dog for a while to keep him company, and this week at work this girl was telling me about volunteering for a dog adoption center. So I get on the website and start looking around and saw a dog that looked really cool. I called them up, the dog was still there, so I drove out there today and took a look at it. The dog is a mix of German Shepherd and Alaskan Huskie. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was perfect. I didn't want another male dog in case there would be the whole conflict of two alpha males, so I went with a fixed female. She's a little over a year old and is about half the size of Vick. This dog warmed up to me instantly...I guess it has something to do with my rugged good looks and manly charm...haha. I put her in the car, and the whole drive home she kept trying to climb into my lap from the backseat. Well her and Vick are still getting to know one another...lots of sniffing and little yelps for barks at each other...but I think they'll get along just fine. This dog is the polar opposite of Vick. Vick is extremely independent but in a good way. He goes nuts when I get home from work and whenever I go outside to play with him...but he's never one to need constant petting. This new dog will almost walk between my legs wherever I go, and when I stop walking, she'll sit right next to me looking up at me wanting me to pet her. Her name? Jessi. Now you might ask yourself how I came up with that. Well her original name was Winnie and I'm sorry, but I can't have a dog named Winnie. So I was thinking "how could I giver her a name of an Atlanta Falcon, yet have it sound like a girl's name?" Jesse Tuggle was one of THE baddest middle linebackers, so that's where the name comes from. In fact, Tuggle holds the NFL record for most fumbles returned for a TD with 6, and led the NFL in tackles for something like 8 years in a row during the 1990's. He never got the press he deserved because he played on some crappy teams. Anyway, the name Jessi (which I justify as being short for Jessica) is the new addition's name, and here's a few pictures -

Is she just not adorable? And I love how Vick has taken to her so far, even though there is a VERY obvious size difference...hahaha. I know it sounds really stupid, but I was afraid to get another dog thinking Vick might feel like I don't love him enough anymore and stupid stuff like that. If you've read my blogs, you know how much I love Vick. He's honestly like a son to me. And he does get a little agitated when I'm playing with her, but he knows he's my buddy. He'll get used to having another dog around. The great thing is both my dogs have VERY distinct personalities, and like Jules from "Pulp Fiction" said, "Dogs have personality, and personality goes a long way". So there you go...Jessi is the latest member of my family. Man I love dogs.
Oh, the Senate race. Head over to www.boforsenate.com on Tuesday and check the link on the main page. That radio show I did last month on 97.7 FM is going to be replayed while Steve Hilton is out of town, and they have a link for the live audio of the broadcast. Also, I just got an email tonight to appear on The Kevin Wall Show. He has a morning show on 1510 WLAC in Nashville, and I'll be on there one morning next week. I will post the time when I call tomorrow to set it up.
More later...I'm going to see how the kids
are getting along...hahaha.
