Yeah yeah, I haven't been on in a little while...I'm lazy...what can I say? I mean Batman Begins came out on DVD along with Star Wars Episode Three and....drum roll....The Devil's Rejects! Plus me being the videogame geek that I am, I had to (yes...HAD to) take advantage of a sale I saw and pick up some new games like The Hulk - Total Destruction and Blitz: The League. Yep, all these things have confirmed I'll be single for the rest of my life...hahahahaha. I did go see SAW 2, and WOW what a friggin movie! There was a time in the middle of it where I was thinking "hmmm...where is this all going?" and then when the ending hit and wrapped everything up I was smiling. Yes...I was smiling at the end of a movie about a serial killer....hahahahaha. The reason was, it's so rare to see a movie where someone puts some thought into it nowadays that when a film actually displays a little thought to it, I really dig it. The writing was awesome...still not on par with "Seven"...but will any of them ever be? I kinda doubt it. SAW 2 just rocked...and if you haven't seen it...shame on you. I also watched The Devil's Rejects the other night when it hit DVD and found it much better then the time I went to see it in the theater. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I hated it in the theater, but if you read the column where I wrote about seeing it originally then you'll know a couple of loudmouths had to ruin it for me by their constant guffawing at every little thing. Of course someone clearing their throat in the theater annoys me to no end so go figure...hahahaha. Yeah, I'm a wee bit high strung. Rob Zombie made one heckuva movie though...and I really hope he has many more ideas to grace us all with because he is already light years beyond most directors...and this was only his second film. Plus, after meeting the cast last spring I feel a kinship with them that I'm sure they feel with me...uh huh. You know what happened Tuesday? I go to Media Play to get the movie because it's the closest place to where I work, and they also had the new Devil's Rejects figures. Man I was shaking when I saw the figures of Otis, Baby, and Captain Spaulding on that endcap. I grabbed them all and raced to the checkout. As I'm standing in line I start to think about myself...here I am...a corporate stooge at age 36 standing in line to buy the Devil's Rejects DVD and figures. Yeah...dork! Oh well...I'm comfortable with it....hahahaha. Hey just give me my videogames, heavy metal, horror movies and a good pizza and I'm a pretty happy guy.
Ok, here's some news form the Senate campaign. How is it going? Well glad you asked. It is honestly a lot tougher than I thought it would be to get anyone to notice. Now in saying that, I am starting to make some news on statewide news and political blogsites which is cool...even though not all the coverage is positive. That's fine by me...I have a pretty thick skin so fire away. I've been trying to contact area radio talk shows about it and so far I have been ignored. You know what? Fine...give me a bigger chip on my shoulder. I know the holidays are coming up and most people really don't care about politics right now...so I'm saving the big guns for after the New Year. What I have been doing that's getting me noticed is posting on the other blogs of the "real" candidates here in Tennessee. Do a google search for Harold Ford Jr.'s blog, Ed Bryant's blog, or Van Hilleary's and anytime you see a user posting a comment with the name "boforsenate" then that's yours truly. It cracks me up...it really does...because all I do is respond with a little logic and have been labeled as someone who is misleading, being deceptive, whatever. I have a HUGE advantage over these other candidates, I really do. What is it? I will speak my mind and make no apologies for it. I don't have to worry about polls, popular opinion, how I'm perceived, any of that. I can definitely say this...in this brief period of time I've been involved as a candidate it amazes me just how much a big game the whole thing is. With each day I lose more and more faith in the political process of this country and know it needs a major overhaul. Now here's a headline...the first U.S. Senate debate is coming up on January 31st in Memphis featuring the guys who are running as Republicans. I emailed the person who is putting this debate together and explained that I would love to get on this because I feel it's only fair for the people of Tennessee to hear from a conservative that isn't running as a Republican. I got a response back telling me that they will review my website and stuff and get back to me. I'm going to keep pressing this, because I know in my heart that if I get on a debate with ANY of the other candidates in this race that I could really do a good job. Again I feel like I have a HUGE advantage because I really don't have to watch what I say. Ever watched a political debate? It's about as enjoyable as getting an ingrown toenail yanked out without any anesthetic...I know because I speak from experience. These guys usually have to construct their words to where even the simplest answers can leave people like "ummmm...huh?". I really think it would be refreshing to hear a debate where one of the guys is just saying whatever is on his minds and not worrying about "saying the right thing". Now I love to read...and lately I've been reading a book called "A Patriot's History of the United States". In the chapter on Ronald Reagan the author summed him up pretty well...Reagan would give answers to issues that a guy in a bar would. Isn't that what America needs more of? In saying that, I am in no way trying to compare myself to Reagan...but I do truly think that there needs to be more of the "common Joe" type guys in Washington who will tell it like it is. There is so much that goes on in Washington that the Founding Fathers of this country never wanted to see happen it makes me sick. For example, have you noticed how all the news lately is that Bush lied or misled or whatever about the Iraq War??? Jeez people...can you come up with something else? Wasn't this hammered out already last year leading to the election??? It drives me INSANE! See, here's how I see it...why would all this stuff be rehashed when it is pretty much a dead issue? Well...it could have a little something to do with the fact an election year is upon us...imagine that. For instance, one of my opponents Harold Ford Jr. is now saying if he knew then what he knew now about the war then he wouldn't have voted "yes". Give me a friggin break you spineless wimp. See he's a perfect example of a politician...votes one way...perceived opinion is that the war is losing support...so he goes against it. My message for Ford would be this - why don't you do a little more homework before you send people off to a war if you're going to change your mind later! And you might just think I'm bashing Democrats...oh no...far from it. I really dislike the Republican party as well...I really do. Out of any given 100 Republicans maybe 3 or 4 have some real backbone to them...the rest are too concerned with being re-elected. The world of politics is just one big game and as I get more and more involved in it all, it sickens and disgusts me. I've always been pretty cynical of the political world...and everything I'm learning is doing nothing but solidifying that opinion. Politicians just suck...plain and simple. So like I said, I really hope I get a chance to get in on a debate because I am completely free to express exactly how I feel without having to pander to anyone. If people support me then great...if they don't then oh well. For instance, most people say that the issue of illegal immigration is one of the most important issues right now...so why isn't anything being done? I'll tell you my theory - both parties want to make sure to get the hispanic vote and members of both parties are either employing illegal immigrants or are receiving LARGE campaign contributions from people that do...plain and simple. People in border states are screaming for it to stop...yet the rock rolls on...makes you wonder doesn't it?
And now with no segue whatsoever...I want to touch briefly on the riots in France...and you know...the sick and twisted side of me says it couldn't happen to a better country. I know I know, that's horrible to say. But I just find it funny in a dark way that the country hardcore liberals revere as the model of a perfect society is having these riots go on. So why are they happening? Well, the news likes to tell us that it's the poor lashing out and blah blah blah...whatever. What happened was a couple of punks were running from the cops, hid in some power station and I think two of them got electrocuted and died so of course it's the cops fault...right. So people start taking to the streets and burning cars and shops and stuff....but the funny thing about the protesters is they happen to be Muslim and another weird thing happened when it's been said that the protesters are screaming "jihad". See, France...due to their relaxed immigration policies much like us...has a TON of Muslims from North Africa living there. This riot breaks out and it's been going on for what...like two and a half weeks now? What happens when something like this happens here in America? Seriously...think about that...what will happen? Will we act like the French wussies and just hope it goes away or will someone really do something about it? See, I'm a big fan of iron hand discipline...I really am. First off, I hate protesters, I've said it before. I think the majority of protesters are nothing but a bunch of spoiled brats with too much time on their hands following the mob. Now I'm not saying someone doesn't have a right to free speech and whatever, but when they start to cause problems and quit doing the "peaceful protest" then the gloves should come off. If they want to throw crap then bring out the riot squads with the clubs and shields. If they want to start lighting stuff on fire then give the order to disperse and fire into the crowd. I'm not kidding either...let loose with some live rounds. Now I'm not saying you don't warn them first and give them time to leave the area...but if stuff starts to get set on fire...give the order to disperse...wait a little bit...then open fire with a few shots. Guns have a funny way of making people leave. Let me put it this way...if I was somewhere and a bunch of riot-gear clad police showed up and started screaming for people to leave the area...I have enough sense to go home. If you want to act like an idiot and throw stuff and all that...well...you might get what's coming to you. So anyway, if I was in charge and riots like those in France broke out, I would very simply say that if it continues that police have orders to shoot to kill...give the mob time to leave...and then execute that order. I guarantee you the riot would stop. There comes a time where people have to know you aren't playing around...seems to almost be a dying breed nowadays. Why the heck should people have to endure the actions of a bunch of idiots causing destruction? They shouldn't.
And by the way....come check out my band NoiseCult on Friday November 25th...we're playing at Hair of the Dog in Nashville...I think we start at around 8:00.
And now to finish watching Monday Night Football and bid a fond "later sportsfans!"
