Memorial Day

To start off...yep the Buzz has a new home.  I didn't want to pay for another year with the old URL so I went the free route.  Plus, I'm about to shell out more money for my campaign website which will be up hopefully by next weekend.  Stay tuned...

The first thing I want to do this week is get my rant out of the way.  I hate the ACLU...I really do.  Oh sure, the idea sounds great on the surface...some group with TONS of money flowing in that stands up for the little man...but when you see they do crap like defend NAMBLA (that sicko pedophile group) under the guise of "free speech", you really have to wonder what their agenda is.  The ACLU is basically a communist organization...yep...they are.  They CLAIM to defend the Constitutional rights of American citizens, but in doing so basically want to rid America of classes to where everyone is equal.  Not equal as in "we're all human beings" but equal as in no one can have any more then someone else.  Ah...I could go on and on as to why I hate them so much...but let me point out the utter crap they pulled this week.  This week the glorious ACLU sued to have the supposed "torture" photos from the Abu Grahib prison made public...and somehow these commies won.  Oh wait...I forgot..."activist" judges.  Let's just forget the judges for this week because that could really get me going off about who knows what...let's just concentrate on the commies at the ACLU.  Remember when I said last week about Newsweek coming out with the bs article they later retracted about the Koran being flushed down the toilet?  Remember what happened?  It started riots where people died.  So why in the hell would the ACLU want to potentially aggravate the situation?  Because they're commies and they hate America...plain and simple.  Why would a group that is supposed to be about the civil liberties of Americans want to have photos of captured terrorists supposed "torture" made public???  Who's friggin side are they on???  I'll tell you - it's not America's side.  The ACLU has sunk to a new low in their battle against America.  Let's look at it like this - Newsweek prints a bs article that is later retracted about the Koran being mishandled and riots are started and people die.  Now right after that the ACLU wants "abuse" photos released to the public.  Why would they want that?  I think it is painfully obvious - they hate America and capitalism and will do ANYTHING they can to destroy it.  Someone needs to shut them down...seriously.  They are the enemy from within.  These are the same jerks who have sued to have the Ten Commandments removed from government buildings because we all know that displaying the Ten Commandments does nothing but ram Christianity down people's throats, right?  They do that while quoting the First Amendment of the Constitution.  What I love about their rationale is what they have printed on their website.  Remember a few weeks back when I completely demolished the bs about "separation of church and state"?  Well these communists really still cling to that.  Check this out from their website -

"The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees:
    * Your First Amendment rights-freedom of speech, association and assembly. Freedom of the press, and freedom of religion supported by the strict separation of church and state."

Notice how they tack on "supported by the strict separation of church and state"?  What support?  THERE ISN'T ANY!!!  THERE IS NO SUCH THING!!!  Back to the original point, why would they want these "torture" photos released?  To make America look bad.  Now me personally, I don't care what the photos show, it won't bother me at all.  But for some reason the ACLU seems to care...just like they care about the Koran being mishandled at Gitmo and now they're suing Donald Rumsefeld.  Ummm...doesn't the "A" in ACLU stand for "American"?  I guess from now on it should be the TCLU - Terrorist and Communist Liberties Unionn.  This group is a cancer to America and really needs to be shut down.

Well it's Memorial Day weekend...you know the time we honor the fallen soldiers by going to furniture sales and having cookouts.  I don't get it but whatever.  I mean the neighbors I have behind me are right now having a big cookout with the latest dance music playing and stuff...it makes no sense to me.  I can see celebrating July 4th, but Memorial Day?  Shouldn't it be just a TINGE more somber?  I know...maybe it's just me.  I'm not making fun of people who are cooking out and partying and all that, but it's just not my thing to do on Memorial Day.  So what do I do you might ask?  It's something I started doing back in 1999...I watch "Saving Private Ryan" one night during the long weekend and get all emotional.  Well tonight was that night.  It still boggles my mind what people have gone through to rid the world of evil and make America...and the world a safer place.  I can't thank them enough.  Because of their sacrifices I get to sit in my recliner watching this movie on my big screen TV in surround sound with my dog by my feet in my own house.  To everyone who has ever stepped up to defend this country deserves a thanks that I can't put into words...seriously.  And that's what ticks me off so much about the ACLU and people like them...we have soldiers in battle right now and they are doing NOTHING but aggravating an already tense situation!!!  Ahhh.....bite my tongue here...stick to my point.   So I watched this movie and started thinking about how easy we have it and how easy it is for people to bitch.  We're basically in World War III right now...oh sure it may not be all neat and organized like World War II was...but before all is said and done I truly believe this war against terror and everything that is going on will see American military action going on for quite some time.  Back in World War II Americans had to ration all sorts of stuff...silk, sugar, gas, everything because the priority was winning the war.  Today we haven't been asked to sacrifice ONE THING...not one.  We have not been inconvenienced in the slightest compared to the 1940's.  Oh sure, gas may be a few cents higher but so what?  Have our taxes been raised to help fund the war?  No.  Have we been asked to ration anything?  No.  Have we been asked to grow our own food in "victory gardens"?  No.  We have not been asked to give up one thing.  And that's what ticks me off beyond belief when people start bitching about the war in Iraq.  Leave the complaining to the guys who are over there because THEY are the ones in the thick of it while you sit in your recliner eating potato chips and getting on internet sites so you can whine about the war being "trumped up" for oil or so Haliburton could make money...shut up!  Let's wait to analyze and do the bitching when our soldiers are back home, ok?  Let's let them do their job without playing Monday morning quarterback on everything they do.  I honestly don't think we'll know the true ramifications of this war until about 10 years has passed or so...much like the Cold War with the old Soviet Union.  Those who grew up in the 1980's - remember the threat of nuclear war with the Soviets?  I do...and now it's all a distant memory because we had a president with the guts to confront it head-on.  At the time it may have seemed all disastrous or that Reagan was a "maverick" and all that...but it worked.  My suggestion is that we wait a while and see how it all plays out...let history judge it...not some dude who looks like the comic book store owner in "The Simpsons" out there on an internet messageboard trying to "expose" the ties the war has with Haliburton or whatever.  The bottom line is that we have soldiers trying to make this world a safer place whether you want to admit it or not...and they deserve our full support.

Take some time this weekend to think about what Memorial Day really is.  Think about all those sons who didn't have a dad watch them get their first hit in a little league baseball game because the dad was killed jumping into France on D-Day...think about all the daughters who never had their dad give them away on their wedding day because he was killed during the Tet Offensive in 1968...and think about the wives who will never have a chance to start a family with their new husband because he was killed by some terrorist in Iraq who drove a car rigged with explosives.  There has been, is, and will be evil in this world...and those who step up and sacrifice their lives trying to stop it deserve so much more then I could ever put into words.  Just please take some time when cooking out or hitting the furniture sales this weekend to remember why you have the freedom to do those things...many people have sacrificed their lives to make this country the greatest in the world and gave us the freedom to enjoy watching movies, playing in a band, watching football, and being able to sit in your own backyard with your dog enjoying the calmness of nighttime during the Spring.  I can't thank them enough.  When I stop and really think about it, I swear I feel like the old man Private Ryan in the movie when he looks to his wife and says "tell me I'm a good man...tell me I've lived a good life" because he knows first hand that men gave their lives so he could marry, raise a family, and enjoy the types of things I just mentioned.  Until next time....
