News From the Campaign Trail

First off, I MAY be shutting this site down within the next month and moving it somewhere else.  The reason being the domain name is coming up for renewal and I honestly don’t feel like forking out the money for it…especially when I’m going to be opening a new website soon.  What is this new site?  I’ll get to that in a second.

My U.S. Senate campaign is now unofficially underway.  I say “unofficially” because I’m still not registered as an actual Republican candidate.  Why?  Well let’s just say it seems the Republican HQ here seems a wee bit too busy to even give me a phone call.  Over the last two weeks I have called them about 8 times and got to speak to someone I needed to once.  All I need to know is what exactly do I have to do to become an official candidate?  I spoke to this guy at the HQ who could supposedly tell me this stuff for a few minutes one day, only to find out I really needed to get the info from someone else.  Seriously, don’t you think that there would be more then one person working in the state headquarters that would know what you need to do to become a candidate?  Yep, I thought so too.  Anyway, I talked to this one guy who was asking me why I wanted to run and stuff.  I told him I do not want another career politician representing me and making decisions on the future of this country.  I don’t want some empty suit going to Washington.  I gave him some background on myself also.  He then asked if I was going to have enough time to campaign.  Well gee…let me think…ummmm….no?  I mean what kind of question is that?  “Oh I have to have time to campaign?  Well then never mind”.  But my favorite thing was the mention of money, as in it takes a lot to run.  This was mentioned more then once, almost like it was being done to discourage me.  But I will not be discouraged…not at all.  You know what really gives me fuel for this?  Their HQ website has the list of candidates for the Senate seat from the Republican party, and one of these candidates has a website I went to check out.  His name is Ed Bryant and here’s his website - www.edbryantforsenate.com.  Take a look around on the site, do you see anything that really makes you go “oh yeah, I like where he stands on this” or “wow, this guy really has some plans in place”.  Did you find them?  No, you didn’t.  You know why?  Because he’s the typical guy I want to keep at home in 2006.  Now he does have a little bit more of a track record then I do.  For instance he was the one who was the prosecutor in the trial to impeach President Clinton and was also the one who interviewed Monica Lewinsky...but you know what?  That doesn't have much to do with what's going on right now.  For instance, where does he stand on today’s most pressing issues like illegal immigration?  Huh, I don't see it anywhere.  I see the mention of taking a stand in the war on terror…but doing what?  It just sounds like a bunch of rhetoric – “I’m a conservative and stand for family values and will keep taxes low and support the war on terror”.  My, that just clears things up doesn’t it?  Where are the solutions!?!?  What ideas does he have to take a stand on these things???  People are sick of empty talk, at least that’s what I think.  In order to get people to support you, you have to tell them what you stand for, identify existing problems and then offer SOLUTIONS to those problems.  Look at what little bit I wrote last week...that was stuff I formulated off the cuff and I had more solutions in place then he seems to have thus far on his site.  Now what I find REALLY funny is he has a bit on his site about a dude named Van Hilleary.  Hilleary ran for governor here back in 2002 and lost to Phil Bredesen.  Now Hilleary is running for U.S. Senate as a Republican so of course as all candidates have to do, Mr. Bryant decides to point out the negatives of a competitor.  I mean I understand doing that...heck I'll be doing it too (but creatively of course)...but he's basically asking the question "if Hilleary lost in 2002 to Bredesen, why would he be electable now?".  Now I may be mistaken here...but Bryant ran for Senate in 2002 and lost to Lamar Alexander I do believe.  Ummm...if he lost in 2002 also then why would HE be electable now???  Granted Bryant points out that Bredesen is a Democrat so he wonders if Hilleary could defeat a Democrat in a Senate race as well...but perhaps Bryant isn't a strong candidate and that's why he didn't win in 2002 also???  See, both these guys are reasons I'm running.  All they want to do is hold office, be it Governor, Senator, whatever...they just want an office.  The last thing America needs is one more empty suit taking up a seat in Congress.  And until the day comes that they address specific issues with real solutions then I will think no different of them.  Oh sure, they may be nice guys or whatever and I'm not attacking anyone on a personal level, but "politics" has ZERO room in this country today.

Now when I DO become a candidate, I'm sure these guys will start harping on the fact that I haven't done anything in politics before and that I have no experience.  Yeah, that's true.  But at the same time I could also throw that back at them.  Right now we are engulfed in a war on terrorism yet thousands of illegal immigrants come across the border all the time, we have an unbelievable amount of stories coming out now about molestation and kids being killed, we've got government spending that is losing control, we've got a Social Security system in jeopardy, we've got the ACLU raping this country, we have trial lawyers bleeding companies dry and jacking up consumer prices...and all that is just for starters.  Maybe my question to them would be "what the heck have YOU done???".  Seriously, could you imagine me debating one of these guys?  I would have a VERY hard time being controlled.  The fact that I have nothing to lose makes me a very dangerous man...and that fuels me beyond belief.

Now I mentioned that I may be shutting down this site soon, however it will resurface and probably be on a free server or something.  Reason being is I am going to need the cash to launch my new site which will hopefully be surfacing over the next few weeks.  I don't want to mention the URL now because I haven't secured it yet, but it's going to be my campaign website.  It will have detailed issues and solutions, and I'm sure there will be some comedy on there somewhere...especially in my "campaign blog".  Oh how I hate that term "blog"...it just sounds so snooty for some reason.  But in it will be the tale of a campaign for the U.S. Senate which will be made into a movie...no joke.  I'm filming my campaign and showing all the stuff that goes along with it...and I'm sure it will be QUITE the movie.  But back to the website, I'll have more on that next week...and who knows...maybe by then I'll have some answers from HQ.  America needs someone like me in Washington...someone who will call it like they see it and not pander to special interest groups...someone with some friggin backbone who hates "politics"...and plus as photogenic and charming as I am, I will come across great on TV.

Until next week....
