Heyward in 2006

Well it has been an interesting last several days sportsfans...and I have an announcement to make.  But first however, I must tell an amusing anecdote.  What does it involve?  A trip to the theater of course.  Monday night the Bro and I went to a sneak preview of "House of Wax" starring one of the only blondes out there that I wouldn't mind getting to know a little better - Elisha Cuthbert.  I really dug how she looked in this movie because her hair was a little darker and not that platinum blonde look she usually sports...and long time readers know my thing about dark hair.  Anyway, we go to check this thing out because I'm always up for a new horror movie.  It's supposed to start at 7:30 and we get there around 6:30 just as the line is going in.  Personally...I really expected this movie to suck...and to suck VERY badly...but it was free so I didn't have much to lose.  We go in and grab some seats and it nears 7.  Bro says he's gonna go grab his stuff to eat because he knows I need my time to go get my last smoke and my Diet Coke right before a movie starts....isn't that just sooo sweet?  hahahahaha.  While he's gone, some dude from 102.9 the BUZZ gets up in front of everyone and starts with the "how's everyone doing tonight?" like he's some rock star expecting wild applause.  Anyway, he starts in with trivia questions about the movie and if you get them right you get some free stuff.  What I found amusing was that some of the patrons there were a wee bit overweight.  Well what was the big prize?  T-shirts!!!  Yep, I'm sure some of those ladies were quite happy to win a small baby-doll t with the movie logo on front that they could have got into back when they were about 10 years old.  Oh, and note to chicks - check yourself out in a mirror before you wear hip huggers please.  I mean seriously, no one really wants to see rolls hanging over your waistband ok?  Thankfully Bro got back before I reached my breaking point, and I went outside to smoke and then got in line for a Diet Coke and a little something to eat.  It was 7:10 at this time...I got through the line at 7:31...no lie.  What took so long?  It wasn't due to lack of personnel at the counter...it was because people felt the need to treat this like it was a friggin restaurant!!!  "ummmm....yeah...let me get two hotdogs...a tray of nachos...one box of M&M's....a medium popcorn...and one Coke...one Diet Coke...and one Mountain Dew" and of course then there would be the "oh...I need butter on this popcorn please" or "could I get some more cheese for these nachos?".  It sounds like it went smoothly...but keep in mind these were families where the dad was having to spend 5 minutes finding out what the kids wanted.  This is no exaggeration here - it took so long that a woman appeared and said to the two girls in front of me "It's taking this long???  I was worried sick in there...I thought something horrible had happened you've been gone so long".  Oh yeah...I was losing it...but you know what kept my sanity?  I started singing "Peace In The Valley" to myself.  It didn't cure it...but it helped a lot.  So I FINALLY get my Diet Coke and get inside right as the previews are starting.  How was the movie?  Well normally even someone clearing their throat in a theater ticks me off and in this one everyone was treating it like it was their own private screening....yelling stuff out...all that...but I tuned it out somehow because I thought the movie was THAT good.  It was...it starts a little slow but WOW did it redeem itself.  The only thing that really annoyed me was the reaction to Paris Hilton's character dying...and that's no spoiler because it's posted ALL over the place.  Personally I couldn't give a crap about her...I don't find her attractive at all and the little bit I've ever seen of her show makes her out to be a very shallow individual.  But when she bought it, everyone cheered and clapped.  Sorry but I like to feel bad for the victims in horror movies otherwise there's no "horror" you know?  It ruined the moment...but I gotta say the way she got it was pretty cool.  See the movie and don't let all the internet geeks ruin it...it's a good movie.  Hey, I am one of the supreme horror movie aficionados and if people acting the way they were in the crowd didn't ruin my night...that really says something huh?

Ok, now it's time for the big announcement.  I placed a phone call last Friday to an office here in Nashville and the person I was supposed to talk to wasn't getting back into town until Monday...so I called back today and left a message and I will get in touch one way or another to get the info I need.  What's the call about and who did I call?  I called the Tennessee Republican HQ and am going to run for the open Senate seat in 2006.  This is not a joke or whatever...I'm very serious about doing this and I called to find out what I need to do to become an official candidate.  I meet the legal requirements...but need all the other details explained on what to do next.  So far there's 4 others in the running for that Senate seat that Majority leader Bill Frist will be vacating...and if I debate the other 4...I will SMOKE them.  Ok...so why do I want to run for Senate?  I'm sick of these career politicians being elected to represent me, when it seems a lot of them only care about a career in politics.  Because they want a career in it, they will say they're a conservative or whatever...but placate to others so they be assured to get the votes they need to stay in office and I am friggin sick of it.  None of these guys have any backbone anymore.  I don't want 2006 to roll around and send someone to Washington hoping they'll represent my values...screw that...I want to be the one representing my values which I truly feel a lot of people hold, especially in this area.  I mentioned I would smoke the others in a debate and I'll tell you why...because I have NOTHING to lose at all.  See, my opinion is that a lot of these people who get elected look at it as a career.  I may be wrong but it sure seems that way when time and time again these guys play "politics" in an effort to appease people and I'm sick of it beyond belief.  I may not be the most learned when it comes to all the little nuances of the way our country runs...but I have a TON of common sense and see things in a very black and white way....either something is right or something is wrong with only a few exceptions.  So what's my platform?  I'll announce it here -

1) Stop illegal immigration - This is such a HUGE problem yet neither side wants to do much about it.  Oh sure, they might pass a little bill every now and then but I am all for either having a wall built or use the military in some capacity...be it the Reserves or National Guard or whatever....this problem is getting ridiculous.   Here's the screwed up logic in the whole thing - it seems no one wants to take a hardcore stand on it because they might lose votes when illegal immigrants shouldn't be voting anyway so why would they care?  Personally what I would do is have a "get a free driver's license day" in every state for illegal immigrants and when they show up round them up and deport them.  If you want to come to this country LEGALLY then wonderful...welcome...enjoy it.  But when I see an article about an illegal bitching about being denied this right or that right I'm thinking "YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS HERE BECAUSE YOU'RE HERE ILLEGALLY!!!!"  Does the term "illegal" mean nothing anymore???  They broke the law getting here and taxpayers are supposed to pay for whatever health care and everything they need???  Give me a friggin break.  It is just unreal the drain they have on our economy...the numbers are mind-boggling and it has to be stopped NOW!

2) Get rid of frivolous lawsuits - Remember in the debates when that was a huge issue?  However now it seems to have just vanished.  It amazes me that someone can sue McDonalds because they're a fat slob now and WIN!!!  This all boils down to accountability which is a lacking trait today.  People want to blame everyone else for their problems instead of thinking "gee...maybe it was ME that screwed up" and I'm sick of it.  I want something put in place where if you sue a company and you lose...then YOU and the LAWYER owe the company the money you sued for.  Now those morons who want to sue McDonalds for being fat for a billion dollars might think twice before they do it...and lawyers will definitely think twice about taking a case.

3) Keep the ACLU from being tax exempt - The ACLU is eating this country alive wwith their BS.  They are a privately funded group yet somehow remain tax exempt.  This means that everytime they defend NAMBLA or whatever other sick and twisted perverted group they can latch onto that goes against everything this country was founded upon and stands for...they aren't paying a dime in taxes.  If the ACLU wants to exist...fine...but let's not grant them any kind of amnesty from paying their fair share.  Plus, if they had to report all their earnings and pay taxes on them...I have a feeling their might be some sort of investigation into what they report and what they actually receive.  Personally I wish there was a legal way to abolish them.  Oh it sounds great on the surface...a group looking out for the civil liberties of people...but ANY group that would defend NAMBLA's right to free speech should be done away with.

4) Military build-up.  If we can quit wasting billions on the "rights" of illegal immigrants, get rid of all the wasted money tying up the courts with bs lawsuits, and have the ACLU pay a nice little chunk of cash to Uncle Sam every April...I do believe we can fund the military the way they need.  We could have a military that could strike quickly and efficiently anywhere that was needed.  The world is EXTREMELY volatile right now...and we need to make sure our military can take care of a problem before it gets too big.  I don't give a crap what anyone says about "imposing our will on other countries" at all.  We've never "taken over" a country when we could have...we liberate and defend ourselves and anyone who can't see that is just wrong...throw me all the conspiracy theories you want.  The latest reports about North Korea say they have begun testing missiles that could possibly carry nuclear warheads.  Ok...my answer is let's wipe them out.  Seriously.  Either they dismantle their nuclear program or get annihilated.  Same goes for Iran...dismantle or go back to the stone age.  Ever heard of General George Patton?  If he were in charge of the Iraq war it would have been done long ago.  He didn't care what the media or anyone else said...he had two goals - to wipe out the enemy and to keep as many American soldiers alive as possible.  He understood war...a trait lacking today.  We have an unbelievable amount of firepower at our disposal that's not being used for whatever reason.  If he were in charge there would be no "insurgent" (terrorist) attacks because he would have carpet bombed the areas they came from.  People say this is a different war nowadays and we can't do that because it's not a country we fight against and whatever...ok...so drop leaflets and say "we're bombing the crap out of this area in 24 hours and if you don't want to be in it report to this area" and that way you can round everyone up to find out if they're with the enemy or not and then go drop a ton of bombs.  It would get rebuilt...America always does.  You know we weren't at war with the rank and file German civilian either but that didn't stop us from bombing the hell out of Germany in WWII.  We have such an awesome military...and everyone starts screaming about American blood being shed...but jeez if we could use what we had at our disposal and not give a crap about what Katie Couric is gonna say on the morning shows we wouldn't NEED to send in most of the infantry.   When did people lose sight of "it's us against them"???

That's a quick synopsis.  I've got more but it's getting late.  Shortly I'll be getting a website up as a way to contribute to my campaign.  This is no joke...this is all for real...Heyward in '06.  I don't want another career politician representing me and the 200-plus years of this country's history.  See...the beauty is that since I have no career aspirations of being in politics I have nothing to lose...and a man with nothing to lose is very dangerous.  More on how everything goes with the Republican HQ next week.
