Ah yes, isn’t corporate America wonderful?  Don’t you just love the warm and fuzzy feeling of loyalty that companies show their employees nowadays?  Before I get started on this rant, let me explain that presently I’m a contractor at the company I work for and being a contractor means that you could pretty much be let go anytime.  I’ve been doing it for about a year and a half, and last December I was told that the end of March would be it for me…no biggie…I start looking for another job.  However I wasn’t the only one told that they would be around until the end of March either.  Two girls I work with found out this week that after the end of this week they would no longer be needed even though they were told they would be here until the end of March.  Is it just me, or is that a crappy thing to do to someone?  Serious, don’t you think if a company tells you that you can count on a paycheck for a certain number of weeks that they should honor it unless you’re a total screw up?  Well I do.  Oh it gets better.  There’s another girl I work with who was going to go permanent here…she went through the interview process and they offered her a job.  She took the offer and this week was told that they aren’t going to be able to bring her on and WITHDREW the offer.  How is that for treating people with a little respect?  I have ZERO faith in corporate America, and sadly it’s what pays me what I need right now.  I’ve been laid off from 2 jobs in the last four years, and right before that I had quit a place to take another job the day they announced they were shutting down.  Companies honestly don’t give a crap about the people there…the only ones that matter are the big shots who make the most money…everyone else is expendable and they will screw you the first chance you get.  It’s just infuriating to see people get treated that way…as numbers and not people.  It just bugs the crap out of me that there are a handful of people in a company playing with others’ lives.  Granted, I understand all the stuff about companies needing to make money and if they’re losing money then they have to cut costs…but you know what?  I’ve always wondered why the guys who make several hundred thousand a year with tons of stocks and everything, who have the most to lose if the company goes under, ever think about taking a pay cut?  Let’s say a guy makes $500,000 a year and they’re going to lay 5 people who only make $20,000 a year.  What if that guy cut his pay by $100,000 to keep those 5 on?  Do you not think that those people who were allowed to stay on wouldn’t bust their asses after they found out some big shot took a pay cut so they could stay?  Oh wait a minute….wait just a minute…that would require a little compassion and character…something lacking in the corporate world…what the heck was I thinking???

Remember last week when I was talking about this nation turning into a nation of wimps because of the lack of people like Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen, John Wayne, etc?   I had an email forwarded to me that involved several people at an office debating the issue of torture and how it relates to the war on terror.  Someone had quoted an article that spoke about some guy who was detained and shipped to Syria where he was tortured for about a year and found not to be involved in terrorism so he was shipped home.  They were citing this as a reason to say our current methods of intelligence and detaining people and all that are immoral and blah blah blah.  Now I might sound like a cold hearted bastard, but if someone who is completely innocent got detained, well…mistakes can be made.  Wars aren’t perfect…never have been…never will be.  But I can tell you this when it comes to torture involving terror suspects – the more brutal the better.  I want procedures put in place that are so inhumane that these terrorists will start spilling everything within 5 minutes.  For instance, let’s say that Bin Laden or that Al Zarkawi (however it’s spelled) guy was captured…would you not want to know what the next big plan was they’re working on?  Seriously, strap them down to a chair, hook up electrodes and pull out some straight razors and let’s get to work…it would take MAYBE 5 minutes if it was done right.  And just for the heck of it, you could shoot them in the kneecaps with bullets soaked in pigs blood for added effect.  I just can’t believe that anyone that remembers 9/11 would have any problem whatsoever in doing whatever it takes to get information from these savages.  And as far as innocent people being rounded up and tortured for years….ummm…sorry but I don’t buy it.  Now I’m sure that in the process of gathering intelligence that there have been a few people who were wrongly labeled…but I would argue it’s only a couple.  Based on the logic of some of the tree huggers out there we should get rid of prisons…after all there have been cases where someone who was innocent went to jail right?  We need to keep doing what we’re doing, and in fact, we need to turn up the volume on all of it.  Keep them locked in boxes, electrocute them, beat them, give them just enough food and water so they can stay alive for more beatings…and if they die in the process the only tears I’ll shed is because they aren’t alive anymore to be tortured.  Remember – 99.9% (I’ll give the .01% in there for mistakes but oh well) of these animals want you dead, your family dead, your friends dead, and this country destroyed….THEY HATE YOUR GUTS…it’s us against them.  How much more simple could it be???  Americans better suck it up or this war will drag on longer then it needs too…if we just don’t let our soldiers do their jobs and sit around second guessing everything when we don’t have all the facts, we’ll end up with more dead Americans.

Don’t you just love the Supreme Court?  This week they said it was Unconstitutional to impose the death penalty on a minor…so I guess if you’re 17 you just go to jail but if you’re 18 you could get fried in the chair.  And now they’re spending their time having to listen to people say that the Ten Commandments shouldn’t be allowed to be displayed at government buildings and all that….and thankfully someone brought this to their attention because for years the government has been ramming religion down my throat by doing this….uh huh.  This is along the same lines as that bozo who went to the Supreme Court to try and keep President Bush from having a prayer at his inauguration.  Note to the atheists or whoever else – the belief in God is shared by the MAJORITY of Americans so deal with it.  I am so sick and tired of these little minority special-interest groups or whatever trying to dictate what the majority of Americans should have.  Personally I think in a situation like this it should go to the people to vote on…much like the gay marriage issue…the reason Bush wanted a Constitutional amendment is because THEN it has to go to the state level for people to vote on.  I think this should be done with a lot of things including abortion.  As an aside…you know what I love when the debate over abortion surfaces?  When someone inevitably says “you can’t legislate morality”.  Really?  You can’t?  Huh…maybe I’m just stupid but it appears that EVERY law is based on morality.  I mean morals are a sense of right and wrong…so somewhere someone said “murder is wrong” and BAM a law was made.  Someone said “stealing is wrong” and BAM a law was made.  Every single law is based on the fact that someone at some time thought something was wrong and made a law about it.  Anyway, back to the Ten Commandments.  It’s the same old argument being brought up about the mythological “separation of church and state” which has ZERO substance to it.  They want to make it sound like some cop or whatever is standing out there by these displays forcing people at gunpoint to read and memorize it.  It just makes no sense to me at all…what the heck has happened to this place???  It seems that so much has changed in the country in the last 15 years or so beyond belief.  Now you can’t say anything without someone getting all offended….and everyone has their little “communities”.  You have the Hispanic community, the gay community, the Muslim community, the bisexual diaper wearing community for all I know…well where in the heck is MY community???  Why is it that I can say things that can offend all the little communities, but if I speak out about something then I’m either a bigot or a homophobe or a sexist or one of those evil evangelical Christians that want to ram the Bible down someone’s throat?  Here’s an example…there is this guy I work with who’s gay and it’s no secret.  In his cubicle he has a calendar with pictures of pretty-boy men with chiseled physiques and also has his wallpaper on his PC the same.  Now, let’s say in my cubicle I had the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit calendar hanging up and wallpaper on my PC of some buxom babe in a thong bikini…what would happen?  I’d have to remove it because I’m being sexist and offending some of the women I work with.  And if I was to go and say anything about the gay dude’s decorations…what would happen?  I’d be a homophobe and also labeled “insensitive to the gay community”.  See…either way it’s my fault and I’m the one with the problem because I have no “community” to be a part of.  I mean I guess I do…but every one of them are considered evil and racist and greedy and homophobic and war mongers and all that…you know the “Christian community” or the “conservative community” or “the community of people that support the military”…all those horrible and evil communities.  Now let me get back to the Ten Commandments…and this is all going somewhere I promise.

So why the big stink about the Ten Commandments being displayed?  Why is it a school system has changed the longtime used “Before Christ” (B.C.) to “Before Common Era” (B.C.E.)?  Why have schools done away with “Christmas break” and changed it to “winter holidays”?  Why is it that any and all references to God and Christianity are under attack and being removed?  The common argument is the “separation of church and state” which I’ve said does not exist so many times my head hurts…it doesn’t…no where.  In fact, let's take a look at where this term comes from shall we?  Here’s one thing I did…I got online and did a search on the separation of church and state to find out what reasoning people are using for this bogus principle.  I found page after page of articles that went on and on and on and NEVER really said ANYTHING.  All I was looking for was a concise explanation, and then I found this –

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof

See that?  It’s the First Amendment of our Constitution.  It’s thrown around a lot in the argument for separation of church and state…but is that what it says?  Nope…not at all.  When a government building posts the Ten Commandments, was that mandated by law?  No, it wasn’t.  When a school has prayer in it, is that mandated by law?  No, it’s not.  Others want to make the above sound like it says “Government will in no way display a preference towards any religion” but that’s not what it says.  It plainly states a law will not be made forcing a religion be mandatory…that’s it…plain and simple.  So where does the phrase of “separation of church and state” come from???  Which government document???  I’ll tell you…it wasn’t a government document…it was a personal letter written by Thomas Jefferson.  The short of it is that when Jefferson was elected President, The Danbury Baptists from Virginia wrote him a letter congratulating him on the election because Jefferson was an anti-Federalist and the Baptists were too, so they felt they had a President who would really stand up for what they believed and that was an anti-centralization of government.  And before I go any further, keep in mind that at this time in America, the only religion was really Christianity…but in different denominations much like today.  There weren’t all these Muslims, Jews, or Hindus running around.  In the letter written to Jefferson, the Baptists expressed a concern that the freedom of religion was documented as a government-given right, and not a God-given right, therefore government could one day decide to change their minds on establishing a certain sect of Christianity as the “real” one.  So Jefferson wrote back to them and he DID say “building a wall of separation between church and state”…but in regards to what?  It was in regards to their concerns and went on to say religion was NOT going to be a certain sect established by the government but is a God given right.  Don't believe me?  Look it up.  In the context of history it's so easy to see what he meant by this...and that was that the government would not say "this is the sect of Christianity we will adhere to" because thta's why people left England in the FIRST place.  A belief in the God of the Bible was the common belief of that day in America...not Allah and Buddah and all that.

So there you go...the truth behind "separation of church and state".  See, that’s just a buzz term to make the removal of items like the Ten Commandments seem like a legitimate action to the people doing it…but it’s all a cover up.  The REAL reason all these things are under attacks is for one reason – accountability.  Somewhere over the last couple of decades, people have seemed to come up with this notion that they don’t want to be accountable for anything…because if someone is told they’re doing something wrong well they might develop some sort of a complex or disorder and we need to make sure everyone feels good about themselves all the time at the expense of growth and maturity.  See, if people do recognize God exists, then they know they aren’t the only ones they have to answer to…there will actually be someone else to answer to one day.  Pride is a bitch…it really is…it’s tough to admit you’re wrong and there’s some people who just refuse to do it or recognize the fact that they might be at fault for something.  Christianity makes you decide on a black and white issue and there is no middle ground – Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior or He isn’t.  Those who reject Him as Lord wont have much fun when the end of times rolls around and those that accept Him as Lord are saved.  It’s a complete black and white issue with NO middle ground.  And in accepting Jesus as Lord…you know what that means?  It means you have to say “I’m wrong”.  Yep, you have to admit that you can’t do it alone, that you need help, that you are a sinner and need forgiveness.  So instead of admitting these things, there are people who would rather take a perceived easier route and get stuff banned under the fake premise of “separation of church and state”.  I guess if the Ten Commandments is up somewhere, it might remind someone that there might be someone else we're accountable to and we just can’t have that now can we.  It honestly has nothing to do with any kind of government-sanctioned religion…but people will say it does…yet when Muslim images are put on postage stamps those same people aren’t all up in arms.  Seriously, why is it the Christian faith that is always attacked like this?  Like I said…it puts people in a position to admit that they’re wrong and to make a yes or no choice and for some reason that makes people a little uneasy.  Now here's something else to consider about the Supreme Court listening to the complain about the display of the Ten Commandments....if they decide it has to be removed, couldn't that almost be seen as a violation of the First Ammendment?  I do believe it could be, because a law is being made PROHIBITING the free exercise of it.  I truly believe with everything in me that the reason our schools have so much violence, the reason there are so many psychiatrists so gainfully employed, and so many prisons that are overcrowded is because people are trying to slowly remove God from everything.  Honestly, how anyone could get offended by the mention of God is beyond me.  I guess it's the types of people that sadly don't want to be held accountable for what they do.

And speaking of accountablity, last week's "Jackass of the Week" has yet to be dethroned.  Why?  Because he had to go flapping his gums again and come across as a bigger moron then I originally thought he was.  What is this guy's deal???  Personally I believe he has committed treason and should be arrested but it will never happen.  When all the news broke of what he said about 9/11 and everything, he could have EASILY said something to the effect of "I shouldn't have said it...I'm sorry" or whatever...but did he?  Oh of course not because that would take a little character and he has none.  Instead he has now come out and said he's been misrepresented by the media.  My question would be "how???".  He has now gone on to say that America is becoming a fascist country.  It truly amazes me that this guy was hired as a professor at a University and is so ignorant.  You know what fascism means?  It means - " A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator".  And this is happening here???  I mean, come on, even if you despise Bush...the very idea of saying we're under some kind of dictator is not only completely ignorant but I believe it really is a slap in the face to
